There is when he's actually responding to threads asking legit questions in K1 with completely bogus information, on purpose. I don't know why these trolls (perhaps that should be singular) aren't banned outright by Ewok, in all honesty, with that behavior. If people want to act silly in off topic, that's all well and good, but spreading misinformation in the K1 (and any others I've missed) forum is just detrimental to this site.

In my experience, they'd just come back under a different username.

I've never been to a forum, nor adminned one, in my life where they can't do some sort of IP ban/host ban/etc, and I'd imagine this one has those options as well. That may not completely wash them out but if it's been done, as there are ways around ip bans, but if those have been attempted, I haven't heard about it.

I've admined a forum, and let me tell you this: IP addresses can change from day to day depending on a person's ISP. Banning a domain name covers to many people. Trust me, there's no easy way around it!

Yeah, rotating IP addys allocated each time a user connects makes IP banning pretty much useless in those cases but can't the admin see which ISP the 'offender' is using? If so it might be a fixed IP addy in which case it could work. Failing that, the best way to deal with this kind of problem is simply....

Like I said in my post, no, it may not completely wash them out, but it should be doable in most cases. With a lot of people moving up to cable internet with static IPs, they're a lot more common than they used to be (rather than back in the heyday of AOL being the only ISP everyone knew), and thankfully, the idiots who play the trolls roles are for the most part stupid enough to not know how to get around an IP ban. There's also letting him make his accounts and just locking all his topics, but that doesn't seem to be happening either. These threads are allowed to go on for 20 pages.

I've also had to deal with people who were smart enough and knew how to get around their IP bans and kept making new accounts. I kept deleting their accounts and eventually they got tired of constantly having to make new ones every day, and they stayed gone.

I'm not sure that would work, but it'd be worth a try. This guy shouldn't be allowed to continue to wreak havoc with no concequence. He's breaking the TOS, especially the part telling us not to:

• Make comments in a Post either direct or implied toward another member that are purposely designed to upset, antagonize, make fun of, belittle, or otherwise instigate an argument that takes away from the personal enjoyment of the Service by other users.

Now, I know the TOS also says people should beware what they read and be responcible for themselves, and I agree, but it's unfair and sad that people are being told outright lies and are being antagonized by this jerk.

I'm not a lawyer, but I also believe if this continues to go on, the continued breaking of TOS and multiple accounts and such, that would give the site admin reason to get this guy's contact info and contact his ISP to register a complaint.

The simplest solution would indeed for people to stop feeding the troll (That's both telling him he's funny, and telling him to piss off), which, going back to what I was saying, would be locking his topics and being done with it until the next one, because people seem to lack... whatever it is, that makes them want to reply to argue/yell at/laugh at/etc this guy.

*shrug* I'll continue to go on ignoring him, like I know a lot of us do, but my mindset is of a site admin, and allowing trash like this to clutter the forums could easily throw someone the wrong way, and might keep people from coming back. Just my twenty cents. I'll stop now, as I'm sure all this is just getting the troll his jollies even more.

Think proxy servers. IP bans do not work. You must weed Trolls out, one by one.

As I said-- Not every troll is smart enough to know about them. Now you've told him, though, so I guess IP bans wont work for sure now.
