I used to rate CNN, but with every passing year I notice more and more errors and wrong spelling/pronunciations and now omissions of important stories that the net is full of - in fact it's quite dumb when it describes a cruise missile as a supersonic rocket

I like Fareed Zakaria and I get up early Pacific time to watch him at 7am. Also Nick Roberts. The fact that all three have an English accent is pure coincidence as I am sure there are American reporters with standards somewhere. Similarly, Christiane Amanpour is top banana.

But the soldiers in Afghanistan standing trial for those alleged atrocities were in lengthy combat assignments in the worst areas, so assuming downed airmen would shoot would be rescuers for kicks and giggles is equally silly.

I have only seen this story from dodgy 'news' sources. If the BBC is also running with I would also give it more veracity but I am not prepared to condemn the airmen just yet.

The reference to the skull and finger hunters was to refute the idea that all US service personnel act properly in all situations - so if an airman was full of amphetamine (and it is often ordered compulsory by officers), then they may get over enthusiastic.

Anyway, back to the story. They showed the wounded on telly last night but quoted them saying they didn't mind as it was all part of the glorious effort to free Libya. The news people made no effort to describe the wounds to say if they were bullets or shrapnel

That's what I call really trashy reporting - or they were told to keep the waters muddy for now. I have seen many versions of this incident reported so it hasn't been factually told yet.

It's pretty obvious that US news media is restricted by the US government to an even greater degree than the UK news media who have 'D' notices placed on them

My grandpa came down from Canada and joined the US navy for the fact he said if he was going to fight Japs or Germans, he would rather not do it for the Brits seeing how the Brits used everyone else for the front line work.

It's ironic that the main action for the ozzies was Tobruk - in Libya - where it's all happening now

I have extensive knowledge of Australia as I spent almost 24 hours there. It was Saturday night in Sydney and it was just like Leeds but with fruit bats hanging on the trees - hordes of semi naked young women and shirt out rowdy youths. 2 thousand drunks in the road. 12,000 miles and it was just the same as Hin-Ger-Land.

I left next day for NZ and the sheep huggers - and that was like Hawaii but drunker and 20 years behind. My watch is at the bottom of the sea at Rangitoto island

I met my next ozzy at Vimy Ridge in Northern France and he told me all this about em being used by incompetent English Generals. Funny how these myths get around as the Generals killed a lot more Brits than ozzies.

The Moro are pretty badass. I don't think anyone has conquered them, ever. Most occupiers just avoid that part of the Philippines and don't even try. The Bolo is a nasty knife that chops through anything. Think of a heavy bladed machete.
