Come off it, US soldiers are standing trial right now for killing civilians in Afghanistan and skinning their skulls and taking pictures of them and keeping fingers as tropies in their rooms

Painting ALL the US Military as saints in all situations is unrealistic and turns people off and does not help the majority who no doubt are decent.

It's hard to shoot 6 people with a pistol and it not be 'on purpose'. It won't be malicious, just a by-product of the fear of foreigners

I dont defend bad soldiers but they are few and every time you hear a story like this there is no need for you to think the worse. Considering the actions of our soldiers as a whole you should of come to a completely different conclusion.

A bit more detail. CBS reports a second plane strafed the crash site, accidentally hitting civilians.

I know US pilots are given amphetamine to keep them alert and aggressive, so this might ring true - but 6 wounded and non killed from aircraft cannon ? doesn't sound right

In the UK have 'D' (for Defence) notices to slow release of such stories - so no doubt the US has a similar system

In fact they are sub-sonic and have jet, not rocket engines, and they were ship or submarine launched

I'm critical of all media outlets. Especially ones like the BBC. The BBC might appear unbiased on the surface, but it's state run. You never trust anything that is state run at the end of the day. You can argue night and day that the Trust isn't state-run, but when you law is involved in the finance, and when law is involved in appointing the board of said Trust, it does make a difference. At the end of the day, the government can turn the head of the network on a whim.

I'm not saying it's not accurate news for the most part. I know it is and I pay attention to it. My only point is to not be fooled by the curtain in front of you. There's always someone behind it.

It is not State-run. The BBC is financed by public money and has a charter that is periodically reviewed by government. The goverment has no day to day management of BBC news content.

That isn't too say there is no bias in the BBCs reporting, far from it. But it's not anywhere near what you see on US networks, unless of course we're talking about BBC America, which copies the news/commentary style of the US TV news channels.

Its all a bit confusing because there were two rescues. One was rescued by that VTOL and the other by helicopter. Sounds like the VTOL was responding to the crewman where the shooting took place. Sounds like the shooting was by some sort of fighter as they are now reporting the landowner was hit by shrapnel.
