no fly zone already existed in iraq - that's not exactly worth mentioning above.

No invasion was sanctioned and it occured all the same. I don't remember there being any discourse over the enforcement of the no-fly zone over Iraq. That was a duly sanctioned exercise. There was a proper mandate for that. Now, I don't see any unauthorized boots on the ground in Lybia. I do remember there being seveal hundred thousand of them in Iraq.

While I disagreed completely with invading Iraq the only real difference between Iraq and Libya is the UN mandate. We had a much stronger international consensus then than we do now. The UN is a totally useless body that is more embroiled in politics than our congress is. The only reason Iraq didn't get a mandate is because France and Germany was making tons of money off of the oil for food scam. They didn't want the money tree cut down. If it wasn't for that we would have had the mandate. If we are going to abdicate our international policies to the UN then what use is our government outside of our borders?

How many Coalition Partners does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

unknown, there's still several committees studying that.

Got your facts all twisted, bro. Germany wasn't and isn't in any position to block any action in the UN Security Council. Only the five permanent members (US, China, Russia, UK and France) have the ability to block action supported by a majority of the 15 total (5 permanent and 10 non-permanent) members. This is why you'll be hard pressed to find any Security Council resolutions against any of the 5 permanent members - there've been a few instances were procedural maneuvering resulted in such resolutions but I think you can count them comfortably on one hand. Now, the only two members on the Security Council that would have voted for an Iraq invasion mandate were the US and the UK. The other three were opposed. Turns out that the other three had it right while the US and UK had it all wrong.

Really? You are serious? You don't see any "real difference between Iraq and Libya" other than the UN mandate? (Which is pretty important imo) How many ground troops have we put into Libya? This is not significant for you?

This is the same UN that invited Ahmadinejad as a guest speaker ? That UN ?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Plus, Bush had two cogressional resolutions allowing the use of force.

You really should learn about the concept of context. This thread is completely devoid of it. Hint: Try including deployment numbers rather than a simplistic list of countries involved. Maybe if you could get beyond your partisan hackery and did some actual research, this thread could have yielded some discussion. But you didn't, you posted this lazy list to suit your preconceived notions. For the record, I don't believe in intervening in sovereign national affairs that are not our own.
