Adjustment of Status [I-485] RFE Medical Examinations

Hi FORUM,

So happy to finally join the site!

My wife and I recently filed for my Adjustment of Status to the U.S, We sent off all the forms, except the I-693. Now we knew we would receive an RFE letter, but the requests it's asking for have confused me and though she doesn't like to admit it, my wife too..

Any help as to explaining what it is actually asking for, in this quote from the letter, would be very helpful!

Submit a Properly completed and signed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record for the applicant on Form I-485 (all pages of Form I-693 must be the same revision date) The Medical examination MUST be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS. The medical must be issued less than one year prio to the filling form date of I-485.

• Medical Examination using the 06/05/08 revision date, the medical must be conducted on or before 12/31/09
  
• Medical Examination using the 10/14/09 revision date, the medical must be conducted between 10/14/09 and 07/21/10
  
• Medical Examination using the 02/25/10 revision date, the medical must be conducted on or after 02/25/10
  
• Medical Examination using the 07/20/10 revision date, medical must be conducted on or after 07/20/10
  

The items in BOLD are what confused us...

Also I have copies of my vaccination records, sent from my country, these A4 copies contain the details of my doctor, what vaccines I received, when, how much and who by.

Are the copies okay for the civil surgeon to review?

Yes bring the copy of your original medical vaccination record. The Civil surgeon will use this to decide if you need more shots or not and will transcribe the vaccinations from the original medical in your country to the I-693.

Just download the most recent forms from the USCIS website: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-693.pdf

All it's saying is that if you already completed the form and it was an older copy of the form, you could only use it if the actual medical was newer than blah-blah date...but irrelevant as you have not yet completed the medical at all. So basically, ignore it haha but make sure you have the most recent form.

Submit a Properly completed and signed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record for the applicant on Form I-485 (all pages of Form I-693 must be the same revision date). The Medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by the USCIS. The medical must be issued less than one year prio to the filling form date of I-485.

Medical Examination using the 06/05/08 revision date, the medical must be conducted on or before 12/31/09

Medical Examination using the 10/14/09 revision date, the medical must be conducted between 10/14/09 and 07/21/10

Now, I have submitted my I-693 with my I-485 already. My medical was done in February, so when I submitted it was about 3 months old only. It was in a sealed envelope put together by my doctor.

What do they want? A new copy of the same documents/form? Or I need to do a new medical? Is something missing in the form? Any requirements I didn't fulfill? I called USCIS today and they were unable to tell me for sure what the problem was, but girl said it is normal that they ask for another medical, maybe they want another copy; or maybe it is because of the 3 months period in between getting it done and sending it to USCIS. But to me it sounds like they never even got one...I don't know!

Help...don't know what to do!!

I got the same RFE. I just redid my medical.. but mine was done in the Philippines and I didn't want to go through the hassle of contacting the place where I did my medical there, thats why I just did it again.. Maybe you can try to get another copy from your CS and make sure they use the most updated forms and seal it?

Yes, I'll try to contact my CS, but she'll probably want to charge me again...Urgh!! Not fair!! Did you send the new medical and the RFE letter only, or you included all i-485 documents again? I think only the Medical in a sealed envelope and the letter, right?

Yeah, I just sent the RFE notice and the new sealed medical :/ I printed the forms out myself from the USCIS website, so I know its the latest. I HOPE THEY ARE HAPPY WITH IT NOW.. so stressful :/

Did CS give you a copy of the medical (they are supposed to)? If yes, check what version of the form they used. I think they used an expired form or one with old revision date, that's why you got RFE.
