The Medical here particularly in the rural areas can be quite shocking! We just did medicals in Ulaanbaatar and the only panel physician in the country could neither do serology or immunizations so had to give a blanket waiver as my wife's immunization records were lost in a move a decade ago!

When running a mine here some years ago, I had a US employee suffer a moderate heart attack far out in the countryside. I made the obvious diagnosis and then a sat phone call to a MD in Ulaanbaatar to confirm my plan which was to stabilize him at the mine if possible and then transport him 150 miles to the capital city myself. First took him to the same clinic at which the panel physician is located(the best in the country) for diagnosis and then transferred him to the #2 hospital ICU for treatment and recovery. Even though there was a largish city within 50 miles of the mine, there was no clinic there qualified to care for him.

Some really interesting pharmacology practiced here too! Will be a real experience for you!

There's certain countries that allow med school students to actually do stuff like give vaccines and do exams. It's kinda crazy but I decided I would go somewhere they'd actually let me do stuff.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Hehehe, I've had to do injections and IVs hereblink.gif, so the standards seem to fall somewhere below allowing med students to do stuff!
