With you teaching them, I know that those Mongolian kids will do just fine. good.gifgood.gifgood.gif Now, is there any way you can deal with some of the some more recalcitrant members of VJ? Are there any English-Trollian textbooks? whistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif

Geez Cinqo, I almost hate doing anything in the upper realm or P&R cuz of the haters! Better hanging with the Hearts for sureluv.gifluv.gifluv.gif. At Least Mongolian H.S Students are smart enough to know that they do not know it all!

Wifey worked there for several years, thats how I got my TOE in the door!

Are you suggesting you got your TOE in her door ? 0h dear!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Haterz gotta hate. They have no other purpose in life , apparently, but to cast aspersions of the characters of others and to decry those of us who eschew such repugnancies for more genteel pastimes.

'Morning Heartsluv.gifluv.gifluv.gif

I am teaching colloquial English and American Culture to High School students bound for the US on an academic year abroad program. By the time I begin working with them, they have generally been formally studying English for 5+ years so have very good vocabulary and grammar skills. They are however very timid in the practical use of their language skills and it is my primary jobs are to make them conversant in and comfortable using their English with native speakers and to prepare them for the culture shock they will necessarily experience. We work with materials published expressly for teaching English as a second language and also with a good library of donated high school textbooks that I brought from the US. I also do a rather intensive course that prepares them for their visa interviews. The fun part is when they have become comfortable in their language skills with me. At that point I again push them way outside of their comfort zones by herding them out into some of the areas frequented by tourists and compel them to approach and initiate conversations with complete strangers. That always produces a few funny incidents and occasionally a fleeing tourists uncomfortable being approaced by a random Mongolian stranger!laughing.giflaughing.gif

The institute I work at here placed 25 students in the US last year and it looks like a similar group will receive their visa's and placements this year.

That's so cool!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

And you're on the mark! Haterz always gonna hate. Too many opinions , guesses and prejudices cloaked as fact thrown about by poster children in the afore mentioned realms for me to have much interest in participation.
