I woke up with bad heartburn. And, because of the humidity level et. al with the storms, it's a little difficult to breathe.

Good Morning Commiesunity,

Cassie...its humid here too...hope you feel better sweetheart. Supposedly, its going to be in the 80s today, record high is 82 :wow:...then back around 55-60 tomorrow...so will be a weird day.

Not much going on around here....just :clock: for AAm's interview on Weds morning. We've booked a hotel and will leave tomorrow afternoon  When she went to her biometrics, the gave her a CD will the 100 interview questions. And, I've printed out the 100 Qs from the USCIS website which is very good. So, she's been studying for the past month or so. Anyways, when we were driving to the Cherry Blossom festival this past weekend she had that 100 Qs CD playing and she was answering the questions perfectly! I was VERY impressed with how well she's done with her studying

Blessings to the thread!

MK

Thanks Bishop.

Temps are supposed to drop about 10˚ (does the degree symbol show up ??) so I brought my jacket with me to work expecting it to be chilly before I leave.

Good luck Wednesday with AAm's interview! I can't imagine prepping for something so far in advance. Benny probably won't study until the last week lol

Hello Dearest Cassie,

I don't know, but am making the assumption that Benny is practically as fluent in English as he is in his native language. If that is the case then one week of study will be enough for him. For AAm, she's learning a LOT of new English words during her study. For example, AAm speaks English very well in conversation, but a lot of the words and terms which are on the test are not used in daily conversation: Constitution, Amendment, Capitalism/democracy, Confederation, Executive/legislative/Juducial, Republican/Democrate, House of Represatives, Speaker of the House, Veto, Allegiance, Constitutional Convention, Federalists, Emancipation Proclamation, Great Depression. Plus, AAm has only recently (over the past couple years, since moving to the DC area) began to familiarize herself with the following famous Americans: Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Anthony, Roosevelt, Wilson, Martin Luther King Jr.

So, in order to study, AAm had to first translate alot of the 'new words' from the 100 Qs into Thai language to find an equivalent meaning and then she could understand the question better. Plus, she had to do research on alot of these otherwise well-known Americans.

As usual, she's really put her full heart into her study and I'm so proud of her. Alot of what we take as 'common/known history of the West' is unknown to her considering she is Asian. And, its really difficult for her to understand the entire slavery/emancipation/civil war years...that entire episode of US history is quite baffling to her! If we didn't live in the DC area and go to the Lincoln Memorial quite often I think she'd really not understand what could have lead to those terrible years of USA history.

Blessings!

I finished typing a message and the internet crashes @ work! Hope it's still there when the net's back up. Brighthouse will probably blame the outage on this rain.

lol I'm on Chrome too. It didn't keep anything I typed :(

Benny was involved in one of the smaller political parties in the 80s so the political stuff should be somewhat easy for him.

Gumby says it is Chrome and not your internet provider. He should know cos his other job is an IT tech.

lol the outage was from Brighthouse. We had no internet service for a few mins. The not saving what I typed part I agree was probably Chrome. I think Firefox tends to save what you type here. But I have issues with Firefox locking up this Mac among other things. So, at work I only use Firefox to post eBay stuff. Chrome makes things go funky (changes font and font color when I copy & paste from the HTML editor program).

GOOD AFTERNOON, NAGI!!!! :luv: :luv: :luv: I do not like this Chrome, it bedevils me mercilessly. Invariably its machinations lead me to suppplications which I inveigh rather loudly.

Wish they didn't get rid of IE for Mac. I have to go to someone else's PC to do some things for a customer whose site is IE compatible only. (Not my choice to be on a Mac but the boss wanted it that way.)
