Quick Biometric question?

I'm so glad! Well done on not taking no for an answer but remaining polite :)

You probably won't hear anything about the EAD for at least two months (maybe closer to three months), even with the early biometric. Sometimes a walk-in speeds things up, but normally not. I don't mean to be a downer, but when we were waiting during the AOS process, unrealistic expectations were hard to shake. That's what I mean when I say the real waiting begins now :) Hopefully I'm wrong!

I was about to ask this. Does doing a walk in change the timeline in any way at all?

I've been trying to look at people's timelines, and it seems to me that in some cases early walk in can speed things along, and especially if you get a congressman involved. Before the biometrics is done, the EAD can't be issued in any case - so, my hope is to do an early walk in prob on Fri morning, and try the congressman route when about 4-5 weeks has passed from my initial AOS submission. I have a job offer at my current interning location, which is why I would like to get the EAD as fast as possible - they can't hold this position for me for very long.

that's exactly what i am thinking you know, without a fingerprint they can't even process the EAD, so in my case and yours nothing would be done by the 14th or 15th of april, plus add a month or two after that (come june...)

but now since i got this done i am hoping it to arrive by May maybe..... (hopefully)

I sure am glad I read this, it cleared up a few questions I had.

So do all the service centers allow early walk-in appointments as long as you have your biometric appointment letter? The Indianapolis Field Office website says you cannot visit unless you have an appointment scheduled by USCIS. It also mentions INFOPASS, but it never specifically stated anything about early walk-in appointments. How can I found out for sure if we can do the walk-in?

Oct. 2005- introduced by a mutual friend, hubby was living in Jamaica at the time, we become friends

Aug. 2007- hubby arrives to US on a J1 visa

May 2010- reconnected after losing touch for a few years, our relationship blossoms

Nov. 2010- hubby relocated to the Midwest so we can live together

Jan. 2011- I'm pregnant!

Feb. 2011- married on Valentine's Day!

You can't know for sure - all you can do is try. Most people are allowed, but we were denied. I suspect if you asked anyone officially, they would say it is not allowed, but people still do it. It won't hurt you to try. Good luck.
