I have some specific questions referring to an I-130 for a CR-1 visa for my wife, who lives in Colombia. I did my best to search each topic on this forum. I answered some questions, but I am still unsure of the proper answers to the following items. I'll try to put them in a logical order as the forms go.

I-130 Issues:

1. I know you shouldn't leave anything blank. So, should I fill in "unemployed" for sections C #15? It asks for the name and address of present employer. She is a full time medical resident, though she is not receiving pay, so she is therefore not employed. But, do I need to put "none" or "unemployed" in this area?

2. Section C #21. If filing for your husband/wife give last...

We have never lived together. So, I should fill this in as "none?"

3. Under section D #1, "If separate petitions are also being submitted..." There are no other petitions, so should I put in "none?"

G325-A Issues--for the person who is sponsoring a wife:

1. I am the petitioner filing for my wife's CR-1. On "my" G-325A, who is the question referring to? I have never lived outside of the US, so "Applicant's last address outside of the US for more than 1 year..." should read, "none?" I am referring to my data only on this page for the one I am filling out about "me?" (With the exception of the box at the bottom where I must fill in the information about the "Applicant," my wife, who is trying to gain residency through the CR-1 process--correct?)

2. I have two jobs. One primary job and a side job. The primary job started in 1995 and it provides 90% of my income and the side job started in 1999 and is only a small amount of my income. Logically, I would put in the job where the vast majority of my income comes on the top line where there is a start date--present time. Should I list the second job below? The issue is that I started the "side" job more recently. Yes, both jobs are legit and I have tax info to prove it. Any advice on how to fill out this section with this situation?

3. Same section... I work for a part of an organization. The address on my W2 is not the actual address where I work. What should I put for the address--the actual "site" of my job, or the address noted on the W2? I think the W2, though, I have never been there. Any advice?

G325-A for the foreigner (my wife) who is applying for the CR-1.

1. Applicant's Address last 5 years... She lived in her parents apartment (owned) for years at one address in Bogota. She is currently living in a rental apartment during her medical rounds in a smaller city. She will move out of the temporary apartment in June when she graduates.

We have an apartment (owned) where we spend time together when I visit, she stays there occasionally. I am wondering about the answer to the present address. She is not planning on living with her parents again. She might live in "our" apartment, most probable at this point. Additionally, the mail service at "our" apartment is good and we have a relative looking after the place who can check on mail. However, I would say she only lives there part time. Soon, she will go on a "rural" medical residency where she will have government housing provided (most probable.) How do I answer the address question? We need a steady address for the process and "our" apartment is the most logical. Does this sound reasonable, or should we list another address? Is "our" apartment ok to list as her most recent "residence?"

2. Applicant's employment...

She is a medical student, so Full Name and Address of Employer is "none?"

Occupation is "unemployed?"

Is that the proper way to fill in the section? She only had one job a few years ago, we will fill in the specifics for that, but it was for a summer during her time at the university.

3. Last occupation abroad if not shown above...

She is a medical student... still, do I fill in "unemployed" here or "none" or do I just leave it blank?

Thank you all so much for looking at these questions. I really want to get it right the first time! I look forward to hearing your suggestions and experiences.

1)I would put "unemployed"

2)If you have never lived together, then the answer would be something along the lines of "none"

Exactly

On your G325a, you are the 'applicant'. So you are correct

2. I have two jobs. One primary job and a side job. The primary job started in 1995 and it provides 90% of my income and the side job started in 1999 and is only a small amount of my income. I would put the Primary job in the top box, and the secondary job in the next one. List their start dates then to "present time". If you are worried about this you can always attach a paragraph explaining.

3. Same section... I work for a part of an organization. The address on my W2 is not the actual address where I work. What should I put for the address--the actual "site" of my job, or the address noted on the W2? I think the W2, though, I have never been there. Any advice?

Tough one. I would probably go for the address on your W2. Again, if youre feeling picky, just attach a note explaining

If you file before June, then her current address would be the place she actually is living. you cant omit information from the form just because it is temporary. I believe there is a section asking where you want correspondance sent to? You can then list your owned apartment.

2. Applicant's employment...

She is a medical student, so Full Name and Address of Employer is "none?"

Occupation is "unemployed?"

If she has no job then yes, she is unemployed

3. Last occupation abroad if not shown above...

Leave nothing blank. I assume she would put her summer job here, as it is the last job she had.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
