Fed up of seeing "Initial Review"

just completed 6 months today... NOA1 date is 21 sep 2010... and whenever we call uscis, they say that you will soon hear something... am just fed-up of seeing "Initial Review" on uscis website...

I cannot tell you how fed up we are with seeing that, too!! And it has only been 3.5 months. I can't imagine how upset we will be if we reach 6 months...

Regarding the USCIS website: They are contracted separately from immigration, meaning that someone other than USCIS is running the website. My case didn't show up for over a month on the website so I phoned and the people told me the above. He said it is not very accurate and not up to date regularly. Best to just call and inquire.

So if they're contracted then why aren't they doing what their contracted to do by adding the case updates to the website. It's ludacris that they get paid to do little to no work.

I have read here on Visajourney that USCIS adds the case updates onto the website. Rather than taking man power away from adjudicating petitions they don't bother to add case updates which I would rather have them focusing on the more important work. I think that they probably do have a contract company that manages/creates/updates the main part of the website, but from what I've read it seems that USCIS employees add the case updates themselves if they have the time.

I think that they should hire more employees to lighten the load or to help approve more petitions in a timely manner. We pay enough in fees to do this. But it's easier said than done when dealing with a beaurocracy. I do feel for those indiviual employees of USCIS who have such an enormous work load and who are expected to complete so many petitions in a day. Their work just never ends for them, But I guess it's good job security.

On a side note; I understand that we pay a lot in processing fees, but I wonder home much it cost for USCIS to mail our petitions to NVC and then overseas to the Consulate? Nothing sent overseas is cheap.

Anyways I wish the best to luck to everyone who is still awaiting for your NOA2 and then approval at the Consulate. I hope that all of you have a speedy process so that you and your loved ones can be reunited once and for all forever. My Fiance and I are in the same boat as you, but we have just started the process.

After you pass the 6 mo0nth mark you can call them up and file a service request. I received I-129F approval (NOA2) at 6 months 1 week and 1 day. I filed the service request by calling the number posted in your Initial Review. A week after my service request I received my approval. Not sure if it was a coincidence but I do feel that the service request helped. Also use Honey and not Vineger when dealing with the person on the phone and I think it will get you further along.

You need to contact the CIS Ombudsman:

It should "only" take 5 months to process. It is important to make your case heard, so that they will get their act together.

I actually did do this when I was waiting for my NOA2. at least for me, this turned out to be absolutely useless. despite sending everything typed up, they screwed up my wife's name and her details. in addition, even their initial response to me was about a month after I sent them the request, so speedy they are not! I'd approach this as just another vehicle to try, but with really low expectations. I think the infopass as I suggested above is one sure fire way of at least talking to someone who can really look into your case, as opposed to talking to some drone. I wish you the best of luck - this is a horrible process!
