My fiance joined this site few days ago and he let me on it. He lives in Nigeria and he has been through the interview process four months ago. At the time of his interview he was told now his application must go through Administrative Process and that he will be notified upon completion. All the documents were submitted and as far as we know all is well with that part of this wonderful experience. For four months now, we have been waiting and waiting without a reply. Each time we have submitted an email asking for an update we received an email saying to not write to them, they apologize for the AP has not completed yet.

Until finding this site, both of us were frustrated and besides ourselves. Now that I have read some of the stories on this site, I am beside myself with this unorganized and unnecessary long torturous process of getting our loved ones home. "Who would go through all this heartache if it was not for love?" is a question I would ask a government official.

I am so sorry for the couples that have children and remain apart until allowed otherwise. My fiance and I are frustrated and angry with our situation. Yet ours seem so insignificant comparing to others. This site is helpful and makes each story unique and the waiting game less frustrating.

Now, my question is to those who have applied for a fiance visa from the USA for their Nigerian fiances; " what is the usual waiting time for the AP?" HELP!

Thanks

well its not really unnecessary,a part of every single wait period in this process is to make fraudulent couples stand out and eventually give up.however,APs for men of certain countries ( high fraud or terrorist countries ) go through it,it can take anywhere form two to six months to even up to a year.dont worry at this point the interview is behind you and your fiance and you have nothing to worry about, just wait and be patient.

good luck

There's really no way to tell how long it will be. My fiancé is Nigerian as well although he lives in The Gambia. Unfortunately we are waiting in AP too albeit not as long as you have been. I make a weekly phone call to DOS asking for an update. I've heard of others who've spent 8mths or more in AP before finally being denied. I am praying it won't be that long but there's really no way to know. :(

Best of luck to you as well. I am in the US as well. It would be very painful to wait all this time then to have them deny. I can't imagine!

Purple Sky, you and I can be friends and wait together...LOL and when the men in our lives finally are here we can remember these days. Thanks for the reply, it makes it all a little easier. Best of luck to you too.

@thelastpetitioner,thanks for your reply as well. I appreciate the support and your good wishes.

AP for Nigerian men went up considerable in the last 2 years. In part probably to the silly man that tried to fill the empty spot in his underwear. We all pay the price for the stupid acts of others. Be it the ones that use others for a green card and those that deceive others. If your spouse has a hit ( name like a bad person) AP take extend for quite some time while they straighten things out. Lets all hope yours passes quickly

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

We sure can wait together. This process certainly takes a toll on a person. This was the day that we were going to have our civil/traditional ceremony so I've been a little bummed all day. He is frustrated but holding strong. We've had to make quite a few changes in this process and feel like our lives are on hold. I feel like you... Sometimes I think one of the reasons AP exists is to weed out the fakes. This is putting a lot of pressure on us but we'll make it. :)

When we went through the process my fiance was in AP for about 4 1/2 months. The embassy even done a home visit, talked to neighbors, went back to his birth place and talked to people. In the end, they called him back, all was said was "Congratulations, you checked out, you can pick up your visa in one weeks time". Dont worry, it will be over soon.
