You can fit 16 photocopier paper boxes into a 2-door Pontiac Sunfire if you don't have to carry passengers and aren't fussy about having to get into the glove compartment. :)

No kidding!! That's much more than I expected! I've got a little 2-door Hyundai Accent, but I don't think we're going to take it across the border. I'm in Ontario, he's in Washington state...

I plan to take my cat with me. Anyone else doing this or done it already?

I wanted to take my 2 cats but called the airline too late to make reservations for them , they already had too many animals on one segment of the flight so i left them at home with my parents.I`ll take them when i`ll go visit!

I'm taking mine.. Not really sure what I need to do though. I think you have to get a vet to check them over a week before flying. It seems pretty simple bringing cats from the uk from what i've read cos it's a rabies free country but we'll see..

hey guys, the cat has to have the vaccines up to date (mainly rabies) no matter what country you are from, a chip, anti parasites treatments up to date (internal and external parasites) and all this stuff documented on the cats medical papers ofcourse.

Don`t forget to make reservations for them lol, i did and had to leave them behind :)))

Oh and the cat has to have a passport too, forgot to mention it!

Hmmmmm, so far the only things that my family and I will be bringing to the States would be toys, my computer, books and obviously clothes :)

I use to always be like "ha not going to have enough room ... need to take this this and this" but the more i've thought about it since I decieded to be the one moving is that the less stuff I want to take. Because it's just stuff. With the exchange rate and the price difference between the UK and USA it just works out cheaper to just rebuy things like clothes, electrical things over there.

Of course i'll be taking things but not huge amounts, just some clothes, photographs, probably get some things like teddies and books and my old university papers that i'll hopefully need before I go and some of the things I collect. My OH's trying to convince me to bring my laptop but its a large widescreen one and I'm not sure about lugging it to the airport etc.

Have moved cats and dogs in and out of the US, never needed to chip them. Critical is the medical paperwork within a set time frame before travel and the timing of the rabies vaccination to avoid quarantine and expense.

"The CDC does not require general certificates of health for pets for entry into the United States. However, health certificates may be required for entry into some states, or may be required by airlines for pets. You should check with officials in your state of destination and with your airline prior to your travel date."

"Dogs must have a certificate showing they have been vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry into the United States. These requirements apply equally to service animals such as Seeing Eye dogs."

"Cats are not required to have proof of rabies vaccination for importation into the United States. However, some states require vaccination of cats for rabies, so it is a good idea to check with state and local health authorities at your final destination."

Please note the requirements of 2 major US airlines, neither requires chips. Possibly the airlines you have choosen does, but it is not a US requirement.

United Health Required Documentation

Passengers are required to make sure all health and pet travel documents are current and compliant with local, state, federal and international entry requirements and regulations. The passenger will assume full responsibility for penalties assessed by agencies for non-compliance of pet health and entry requirements.

Delta Health Requirements

Health Certificate

A health certificate is required when shipping your pet as cargo. While Delta does not require a health certificate for carried-on or checked pets, upon arrival, the certificate may be required by the state. ·The age of the animal being shipped (USDA regulations require animals be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned before traveling).

·A statement that the animal is in good health.

·A list of administered inoculations, when applicable.

·The signature of the veterinarian.

·The date of the certificate.
