Ok this is gonna sound stupid but I have my fiance's address here and to be honest it doesn't "look right".

His written english ain't that great, though I still love him to pieces. (L)

So anyhow....does this look right for a street address?

from elgesh street

above that is the number and another name and then he put the above below that and then below that is the section of cairo and all that.

Do you really put "from" in front of the street or is he confused and just trying to tell me that you get to the numbered street address "from" this other street?

Egyptian addresses are really weird. My husband's address there is like 7 lines long. Many places don't have street number addesses like we're used to here, and the streets have grown over long periods of time into a maze like mess.

Here's what we always did - He wrote it out for me in English and Arabic on a sheet of paper, scanned it and sent it to me via email. Then, i could just print it out and paste it onto the envelope/package I was sending. As long as the english says EGYPT on it, it will get to Egypt, and the arabic will help it get to it's actual destination there.

we have "from" its alright, dont bother ur self, and in good case situation what rahma said is good thing, but writing from is not problem, cuz streets here is with names not numbers like states, so u never know what street is coming from, when when it showes up, so u write the main street, and just write am from a certain street, the postman will understand!

I am having a problem mailing things to my husband.. Is it completely impossible? I just sent him a package with our weddiing pictures and candies. I wrote the whole label in english :( the post office said it would take 1 week... 3 weeks later he says Nothing has come for him. SO if i try to do this again.. put the english and arabic??? I'm gonna be so p*ssed if he never gets it :(
