Hi before filing a K3 how long should you have stayed overseas with your partner? I mean should you stay 10 days 2 weeks, 30 days, 60 days or longer? How long did you stay with your spouse overseas? Is there a red flag on a short stay versus a longer stay? What is the recommended minimum length of time to stay with your spouse?

Hi it doesn't make any different , my hubby stayed with me only 17 days. And we met first time in person one day before our marriage.

Don't worry about that.

Recommendations should vary widely by country. Your survey will be virtually meaningless without being specific to Pakistan. Also, the K3 visa is NOT available at this time. For Pakistan, spend as much time as you possibly can together before and after marriage and as many and as long a trips as you can without losing your job. You have a tough road ahead.

Oh wow! Should I go live there?

Maybe. All this is circumstantial. Do some more reading, particularly in the applicable regional forum.

I stayed 10 days the first time and more than 40 days the second. Definately, the longer the time, the more you get to know their idiosyncrasies, which is important, and their day to day behavior. Short periods of time can be like a bunch of little honeymoons, where you are both on your best behavior. It's good to get past that and see what happens on a bad mood day and how you each handle the little things. I hope I will get to visit a third time within this year. That's my opinion.

Yes, spend as much time together as possible. Getting married to someone is a long, strong commitment. We have been married for 7 years and I am still finding out things about her (pleasantly). And her also about me . I think I am lucky that things went so smoothly for us but it could've not been that way.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .
