We are about to send off the AOS and the IV packet to the NVC.

But when it reaches the NVC can we call and check the status of our case?

What is the smart way to go about this?

If you want to hear the automated voice update of your case, take note of the Reference number on your I-130 NOA2 form. It may be a 'WAC' number.

Enter this number when asked, to hear the latest on your case.

Have you read this guide, by PatiencePaidOff? This is the best guide for IR-1/IR-2 visas, IMHO. Definitely the smartest way to go. I followed this guide and everything went 100% smoothly!
