So in a nutshell Americans deserve what they get and we Americans need to quit picking on the French.

No, just idiot Americans that have nothing else to do with their time but to look for silly arguments. See the difference?

Generalizations suck.

What I see is the fact that you are willing to look at and examine America's short coming all the while giving the French a pass.

I think its safe to say that most French people dont care for Americans and look down there noses at us. I hope that changes because I have no problem being friends but I cannot except this 'better than you' attitude that we get from a lot of the French population.

Let it be known that when I meet a French person the slate is clean and I go from there but I will not sit back and be blind to how a lot of France feels about America.

Give 'the French' a pass? I am not sure what you are implying, but it seems that its an implication I am not even considering. I don't know what it is you are seeing. Maybe that's why some folks confuse fact for interpretations and opinions.

Your safe thoughts are assumptions. As for attitudes, we should always look in the mirror before looking at others.

Yes a pass. Your issue has been with Americans and their generalizations all the while making excuses for the French and their generalizations(dont make me go back and quote). You had no problem with French sitting around talking about fat Americans but god forbid we say something about there spineless attitude towards foreign affairs. Your very biased when it comes to this topic. We have few things in common with the French but one very important thing we do have in common is our love for freedom and for that reason we will always be friends in a love-hate relationship.

As far as your looking in the mirror comment all I have to say is that I will not sit around and pretend that the French love us. Quit fooling yourself.

Making excuses?? Whatever it is you're smoking, please share. I think you are getting a bit overly dramatic.

Want me to criticize the French? Sure. In what context or do you want to continue slipping down the slope of ridiculous generalizations?

A pass. I was very specific about utilizing verbiage that didn't generalize, yet you continue to do so.

I think I'll help you, in case you generalize your/my quotes beyond what is actually there:

You dont think the French sit around and talk about Americans being fat slobs? This goes both ways dont fool yourself.

Generalization #1

When we arent complaining about the school systems.

Regardless it a two way road and there is no need to defend the French. They hate us as much as we hate them.

Generalization #2

I have heard plenty of stories of how Americans are treated differently when they go to France but hey it must be our fault were just big fat arrogant slobs. Whats the amount of American people you've been around compared to French?

Reminder of a silly question that is anecdotal in nature and can only be anecdotal in answer. Rife with Generalization (#3)

So in a nutshell Americans deserve what they get and we Americans need to quit picking on the French.

Generalization #4

I think its safe to say that most French people dont care for Americans and look down there noses at us.

and

I will not sit around and pretend that the French love us

Not Americans' generalizations- just *yours*. (Generalizations # 6 and 7)

Excuses? What? Where? When? Please quote those *excuses* for 'The French' and their evil eye against 'us.'

Bias?

Stating that we are not well liked among most of the French population is not a ridiculous generalization. Open your eyes.

This has nothing to do with me wanting you to criticize the French. I just dont like you criticizing one side all the while acting like this love affair doesn't go both ways.

Then get over your *opinion* and quit *assuming* things that I have not stated. Because you are heading down the road to more fallacious thinking.

But you did offer to

(dont make me go back and quote)

Please be concise. You are claiming I am doing something I am clearly not.

Again- if you want me to offer generalized criticism of the French, give me something real to criticize. Not what my feelings are about what I think about them based on likely incorrectly drawn conclusions- based on stereotype.

If you don't want me to criticize them, then don't have a hissy fit over things that aren't said.

Wait didnt you agree with this comment. Your being a hypocrite. I believe you said something along the lines of 'lol americans sit around and talk about that too'

Generalization #2

Yes we do have a love-hate relationship with France. I stand by that 100%.

Reminder of a silly question that is anecdotal in nature and can only be anecdotal in answer. Rife with Generalization (#3)

The point being that of course you would of heard a lot more people talking about France than vice versa.

Generalization #4

How was this a generalization? This was the clear message you were sending.

Generalization #5

I thinks thats a fair statement.

Not Americans' generalizations- just *yours*. (Generalizations # 6 and 7)

Your really naive if you dont think that a majority of the population dislikes America.

Something real to criticize. Ok how about there attitude that there better than America, that were the red headed step child that needs to be dealt with or there spineless attitude towards foreign policy. I will say though lately(before Lybia but Lybia helps)they have been growing a backbone. I like it. I see their faults and I see ours. I will not pretend as you have that its all the US.
