We have to be clear about when its convenient to support a war that has no real reason to enter into, and one that apparently, through international coordination, actually is.

But if they were in this part of the site, what do you think they would do? I know its a silly question just like criticizing other nations for things they are obviously not doing now just because.

So you had a crystal ball saying that Saddam didnt have weapons of mass destruction. We believed he did and that was our reason. You think Russia didnt participate because they knew there wasnt WMDS? Should we have participated in Lybia, after all we really didnt have Russia's support.

You assume for any action to be legit it has to have the UN's stamp of approval. Sure it would be nice but this isnt a perfect world and that includes the UN.

I think you are trying to equate two different scenarios. I do not assume we need UN approval for everything, so do not put words where they do not belong. The first case (Iraq) it can be very clearly identified that the information was false- either fabricated or faulty (believe what you want to believe on that one); and with the second the information was quite clear. Which is why GOP senators like Graham and McCain have been so vocal about wanting action.

Think about Russia on this case. Internal politics in Russia dictate that leaders must show a strong hand in order to keep their population satisfied. This is why the Russians did not exercise their veto power over the UN resolution.
