So what happens after you make a Service Request?

I'm new to this forum. I must say that everything that I've read here so far have been quite informative hence helpful. Somehow, it makes me feel ok to know that I'm not alone in this long agony of waiting.

I filed my I485 back in August. I still have not received any notice for interview or decision on my case. Today, when I called USCIS, SR finally went through. I was given an SR no. and was told to give it two weeks until I hear from the office who has my case.

I just want to know what others have experienced when they made Service Request.

Thanks. Looking forward to reading your comments!

Happy Friday, everyone!

Which name are you using--married or maiden? The reason I ask is that a little known problem just bit us in the #### as Roza decided to use her maiden name. All mail that has been sent to us with her name on it has been returned by the UPSP. Fortunately I mailed a card off for Women's Day from the postoffice with her name and address and my name and work address as the return address. About a week later the card shows up at work with an "unable to deliver return to sender" stuck to the envelope. I asked the clerk at the local post office why the letter was returned. "Is her name on the mail box?" was the question. So I guess that postal workers have the discretion to return mail if they believe the person does not reside at that address. This may even happen if you are using your married name. My suggestion would be to mail something to yourself and see what happens. Did you sign up for e-mail or text messaging updates on your account?

I received a service request number when I called to ask them to resend the notice as the address is correct. I was told to wait 30 days. My guess is that after the time they told you to wait is up, you call the customer service number and mention the service request number to see what is going on. Then you will probably get a second service request number and told to wait another 2 weeks or 30 days. If the time of your service request is exceed, I would get one of my congresscritters involved--which ever is more senior--and see they s/he can get an answer.

Good luck and I hope you hear something soon,

Dave

did u used the right address for ur AOS when u filed? or did u not move in different address while ur AOS is pending sometimes if u mailed ur papers and u moved ,definitely ur papers will stuck on their file unless u follow up after a month or 45days after sending without any notice receive from the USCIS as what we experienced on our I-129F husband was moved and he wont able to get the notice and USCIS told him to call back after 30 days it always says on their notice that when u moved inform for a change of address if this happens to u that could be the cause of ur delays. service request is somewhat u will tell as a receipt in absence of ur NOA1 this serves as ur receipt when u call back again to USCIS in order for them to locate ur case status. hope it helps sis

Hi Dave. Appreciate your input. I'm not married yet. I've always used and been known for my maiden name. So far, I haven't had any post office problems re: mail delivery or redirection. I doubt that's the issue though. I'm afraid my file is sitting somewhere untouched, totally unnoticed. When I called to make an SR earlier, I was told my file is in MO where it was originally sent in August. If it's going to be transferred to my local office, it hasn't been transferred yet. I went to my local congressman's office today and was told to give it a week for their follow-up. Thank you! I just hope to hear or get something soon. My groom is waiting for me in my country :(

Hello fellow Pinay,

Thanks for your comment. No, I didn't move and I'm certain I have the correct address on the applications because I got my EAD fine. My EAD and AOS were filed at the same time.

Sounds like it's more waiting then..................... =(
