Any experience of getting B2 tourist visa with overstay

I am Japanese who was declined to enter US as a visa waiver, this March.

I would really really appriciate comments from who has any similar experience to mine, espicially guys from visa waiver countries.

I tried to spend some time with my BF in US, who is a GC holder, after I graduated from US college in Dec 2009. I lived with him for four years during my schooling. This trip was simply to stay with him, within 90days, no intention to change my status through marrige or any. He wants to move out from US hopefully sometime soon, but don't know when exactly. It depends on his job possibility.

At the enrty, I told the immigration officer I was going to stay at my girl friend's just to enjoy myself because I did not want to be suspected to immigrate US illegally. They checked my all records, found out our relationship, also very bad, my unemployment during my OPT. I was on OPT status since Dec 2009 till Aug 2010 without enmployed. I left US in Aug 2010.

He concluded that I mispresented the purpose of this trip, and I did overstayed in the past.

The officer encouraged me to apply for B2 with the honest purpose(meet my boyfriend).

However, after my return, as far as I did research on Internet, asked a couple of lawyers etc, seemingly quite challenging to get B2.

I am ambivalent to consult a lawyer for help because they will charge me some hundreds dollors just to talk an hour or so. What if I don't have any chance? What if there is not much they can do?

Any idea from who have experience will be appriciated.
