Nothing from MNL Embassy

Our case has moved from the US to MNL. I never received an email that it went from CA to the NVC, but my sister got a letter stating it got to NVC late Jan (I am deployed in Afghanistan, so mail was going to her). I emailed and called the NVC, found out that it left NVC for MNL on 5 Feb. Never got a letter or email stating that. Never got a DHL confirmation letter, either. So we are still waiting on my fiance to get a letter from the embassy, but have hit a wall, it seems. See on the forums here that people in the PI whose packet left NVC after ours already have received notice from the USEM, some have medicals already, some have interviews scheduled.

I tried calling the US number for inquiries, get a little bit of a run around, and they tell me to email IVManilareplies@state.gov. Did that twice already, it's been a week, and all I received was an automated reply referring me to the MNL embassy website. The kind Filipina who I talked to basically said she can't help me, they can't talk about specific cases, just give general info.

I know delays happen, but I feel as if something is wrong since my sister never received a DHL confirmation, and my fiance has yet to hear from the embassy. Any ideas on what to do from here? How do we get the ball rolling again?

Thanks for any ideas,

Dave

DHL confirmation for what? No one gets a tacking number for files as they are sent to the embassies/consulates. They are sent in group packages.

I have seen in a few VJ members' timelines that they received a DHL confirmation when their packet went from the NVC to MNL. And two other members whose packets left NVC almost a month after ours have already received embassy letters. Still nothing for us since 5 Feb.

DavenRoxy, do you know your case number for the Manila embassy? I think it start like this MNL2011xxxxxx. If you have that I would email that email address you have and put the MNLxxxxxx in the subject line first and then ask them what documents you will need. From looking at the visa journey site for the embassy in Manila here are two links one to visa journey for manila and one to the embassy in manila that lists everything you will need, I would still email the embassy just to verify what they want. My link

My link She will need a police report for every country she has lived in from age 16 and after so if she lived outside the Philippines for more then 6 months she will need a police report from that country. If you have any questions on any of those documents let me know.

I had to call NVC to find my case number. I asked them what date they received it and then called back a few days later to see what day it left. To call NCV:

1-603-334-0700

Press 2 for Non-Haiti-Related issue (Please note that this will probably change after some time)

Press 1 for English

Press 5 for an operator *you will need your wac or eac number.

You can call the DOS to find out if the embassy received your case:

1-202-663-1225

Press 1 for the Main Menu

Press 4 for Foreigners Applying To Come To the US

Press 2 for Immigrant Visas (yeah, yeah - we know they're not really)

Press 3 for Family or Employer Based Visas

Press 2 for Fiance(e) visas

Press 0 for an Operator

The way we tracked our packages from NVC to the embassy is find out when it left the NVC by calling and asking them what date it was mailed to the embassy. This thread explains it very well. My link It is a little different how you enter in on the dhl website now you have to enter it in this way: EXP 24 FEB 2011A. That is the date of my package. If you know the date it left NVC always use the next days date.

If I have anything wrong somebody please correct me. I hope that helps you. If you know your MNL2011xxxxxx number then I would email them if you are looking for document instead of calling since that will be cheaper for you since you are in Afghanistan. Any questions let me know. Stay safe over there.

Hello Dave,

From March 4-8, 2011, the consular services of the U.S embassy was close due to them moving to a new building. I can just imagine that before that and a few days after that... It was hectic, computer lines and phones lines has to be re-installed, etc.

You mentioned that you have called the NVC, did you get your Manila Case Number? If you have, then you can do the following now.

1) Pay the visa fee at BPI - $350

2) Schedule an online appointment at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ScheduleanAppointment.html, then click K-Visa Appointment Scheduling. You need (a) passport number of your fiancee with visa issuance and expiry date (b) date of payment © Manila Case Number or Case number (d) date of birth of your fiancee and (e) create a password.

3) Prepare all this requirements: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_001.pdf

You do not have to wait for the notification from the embassy coz sometimes it will not come. Your fiancee can use your appointment receipt online for the medical, just present this to the guard at St. Lukes.

If you have problem with the scheduling or locating your file... call this number (011-632) 301-2000 ext. 5184 or 5185, fax (011-632) 528-6471 and email consivmanila@state.gov

Hope this help...

Thanks for all the replies, ad yes, we have the MNLxxxxxxxx case number. It sounds to me like things have changed a bit, that nowadays, a letter from the embassy is NOT required, and we can just do as is said here, schedule the exam at St. Luke's using the MNL case #, submit the DS160, pay the MRV fee, then schedule the interview online. Ouch. We have been waiting a month and a half for a notification that hasn't yet, and may never, arrive to her. Oh well, it's just time, right?

Are you sure about the DS160? According to the MNL Embassy website: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3024.html

New DS-160 Online Visa Application Form

Effective May 24, 2010, all nonimmigrant visa applicants will be REQUIRED to complete and submit an online visa application form known as the DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application. The DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application will replace the current nonimmigrant visa paper application, Forms DS-156/157/158, and other related paper forms.

Applicants can access the DS-160 from the Consular Electronic Application Center website or from the link on the U.S. Embassy website in Manila.

In order to avoid delays in processing visa applications, visa applicants or their representatives must ensure that the following information is correctly provided:

the DS-160 is not required for a K-1 Visa in Manila. the K-1 is a non immigrant visa, but it is processed by the Immigrant Visa Unit.

Hay naku, so confusing. But thanks to all the wonderful people here, we will get it right. Filling out DS156, DS156K, and DS157 now, MRV to be paid Monday, scheduling St. Lukes for next week or the week after, and then the interview after that. We appreciate all the help. Soon I will have the best asawa in the world!
