Hi there!

Finally, after 4 months of counting days and submiting papers - Green Card arrive in my mail box.

Everything is awesome besides the fact - dates are wrong!!!!!

According to GC - I m resident since 03/08/10 and card expires on 03/08/12

BUT:

I entered US in Oct 2010 with K1 visa and AOS was filed in November 2010, interview happened in March 2011 (!!!!)

So 'residence since' date should be 03/08/2011 and expires in 2013

What should I do?

Change it to real dates or apply save a year till naturalization? )))

the error on there part, call the 1-800 number and expland what happen, the form 1-90 you need to file , it should be NO CHARGE NO FEE.they make the error on your permanent resident card.you will have to mail the old card back to them along with the form 1-90. before you send it back make copys of it,just in case it gets lose.

You have to file the I-90 form to have the dates corrected. Since it was their mistake you don’t have to pay any fee for it.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-90.pdf

It’s a Conditional resident card (valid for 2 years). You will have to file to Remove the conditions of the Residence within the 90 days before your conditional card expire. You can’t apply for Citizenship before go through the ROC process first.

No chance they will fix it quick. They messed up my wifes name (spelling), and we sent the green card back the next day. That was in December and they tell us 3 1/2 months minimum for a minor change.

When you submit the I-90, you will get another NOA-1 when it is accepted. Then you can go on line; enter your new case number, and watch nothing happen. I quit looking, I just hope it shows up one day.

In these events, what sort of paperwork do they provide you -- if any -- that would serve as a substitute for a Green Card should you not have EAD or AP?

You can make an infopass and request an I-551 stamp in your passport. The NOA1 for the replacement card should also show that you HAVE one it's just off being fixed.

Hmm...

in this case - Infopass and I-551 stamp will be free or I will have to pay for it?

That's always free, you never had to pay for those.

You could get the I-551 stamp as mentioned but why? She HAS a green card, she CAN work and travel and has a year to get it fixed. Nothing to get all bunched up about.

had InfoPass interview for 551 - they took my EAD and DESTROYED IT saying I dont need it any more so far my GC has been issued already (w/ mistake!!!).

So now i have no photo ID with my married name - agggr...

and today I got invitation for biometrics again - hmmm... I cant do it on the date they want - so gonna try walk-in this week or rearrange it for later date...

So weird - they made a mistake and it looks like replacing that 'error'-style GC just restarted the whole process... awesome!!
