I wonder if Steven ever finished his AA. I wasn't going to say anything, but since you brought it up, I felt I should. I only have a lowly BA in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

The differences in opinions come more from the type of education than the amount or lack. People with science degrees tend to be more conservative, people with arts degrees tend to be more liberal. Ont type deals with thoughts and theories, basically fantasy or drawing pictures, while the other deals with things that have to be tested, repeated.

I have significant post-doctoral education in science. So I guess that means man-made global warming is real because I say it is?

It means educated people can be wrong.

And that somehow makes you an authority on Climate Science?

Science, like just about anything, can be influenced by large sums of money. For some years the "overwhelming majority" of climate scientists were PAID to conclude certain things about man-made global warming. If they did not find the desired results, their studies were de-funded because they were funded by people that would benefit from "proving" man made global warming exists. If it is natural, or it doesn't exist, it does not benefit the people paying for the studies.

So now we had an election and the overwhelming majority of climate scientists will be unemployed unless they study something else. This means there are not any new bar charts or graphs and they have to do "polls" to see if man-made global warming exists (and if it can be fixed by taxing Americans)

But science is something you can learn about but not really change. We learned the reason your glass doesn't fly off the desk is "gravity" but gravity existed before we learned what it was. Cutting off the funding of the scientists studying gravity would not change that it existed.

Man made global warming does not exist, except as a theory to generate funds for studies, taxes and regulations to increase politicians control on our lives. There may be climate change, there always has been, we know that. But natural climate change cannot be taxed and controlled by mere politicians and they do not want you to know that.

As the funds dry up the scientists will either collect unemployment or study something else that someone WILL pay for. Maybe cures for disease or something. Climate change will just go away. It has to. No one will pay for it.

Now, if man made climate change is real, I would like one of the worshippers to suggest that Japan NOT rebuild anything. This Japanese disaster has drastically reduced their use of fuel and electricity which should help reduce global warmning and there should be a suggestion they not rebuild. Anyone going to make that suggestion?

You do realize you're only addressing US Scientists right? Think out of that box for a moment.

Furthermore, I think the US government is only but a part of the funding source for direct research costs, not institutional salaries that maintain people employed.

Finally, you're characterizing a scientific community based on a desired political agenda, not the scientific process- quite different from what you claim it is. Which once the smoke clears from a population that realizes its been duped yet again by some in the GOP, will likely bounce back to support more rational approaches to dealing with scientific theory and practice.

Believe, or not, it still popular is among certain aristocratic circles and followers of a certain popular liberal econmist.

Blind faith in what someone tells you requires no intelligence at all. And it isn't "overwhelming". There are plenty of respected scientists that also doubt MMGW and the list is growing every day. You just choose to ignore them. That is your ignorance and arrogance.

Wait, what? You take the position that human caused GW is a "hoax", a conspiracy. You don't base that on anything other your own lack of understanding fundamental principles of science and having "blind faith" in a handful of so-called experts who tell you that. LOL....choosing to ignore the overwhelming worldwide consensus of the scientific community defies rationality, Lots of ignorance and arrogance.

Not even close.

Good. So at least you understand the difference between climate scientists who actually study climate and wannabe bloggers who think they know more about climate than the scientists who study it.

Then there is nothing to worry about. The other countries will pay for it.

If the other countries are paying for it, there is no "smoke to clear". If they aren't paying for it, when the smoke clears everyone will know it was phoney all along. I am comfortable with that.

The RAESON they do not want the funding to stop is because you can only say "the sky is falling" for so long and then the sky has to fall...or not. And if the sky doesn't fall, it never was falling and everyone knows you are just Chicken Little. By the time the Dems regain control of the purse strings it may be too late and the scientific community that has fed off this knows it.

I undersatnd the difference between people paid to produce a result and those that are not.

They pay for this research because they, unlike many of us here that are scientifically illiterate, understand the value of actually paying attention to what the 'bright' minds in the modern context, are telling them. Your comfort level is all yours. But its no secret our nation as an average isn't doing quite well in science education. Maybe the GOP should go after H1B scholars while they're at it to try and nip a more enlightened world perspective when it comes to science too.

It is not about comfort level. The US government is not going to be funding this nonsense for a while, at least. You don't have to like it, them's the facts. Elections have consequences. As for the EPA riding to the rescue on the power of a Supreme Court decision...well, only if they exist. As I predicted, the Repubs controlling the purse strings will simply defund them. The EPA was invented by congress, it can be "disappeared" by Congress, specifically the House of Representatives.

Blaming it on the Repubs is just smoke also, the Dems had the House and Senate, filibuster proof, and a President that would sign anything for two years...and did nothing.

So you can deal with it how you will. It makes no difference if it is scientific or not. It ain't happenin'! The US congress is NOT going to fund it and the US congress is not going to tax our economy to pay for it. If the Brits or French or Aussies want to, have at it. I doubt it. I think you can pretty much rule out China or India doing anything about it. Japan is going to be bumping up their need for fossile fuel soon, so I don't think they are going to play the game. D'ya think? Fixing all that broken stuff is gonna take a lot of oil. Replacing all that nuke electricty is gonna take a lot of oil/gas/coal.
