There is an extra $70 charge for fingerprinting when filing for the AOS. Edi was fingerprinted in Bucharest at his interview, do we have to do this again and pay this fee for MORE fingerprinting??

And what's even better is that if you apply for AOS and EAD separately, you have to pay that $70 twice!

So why apply separately? Filing concurrently (which is what most do) solves the problem.

Some people file for AOS first because they don't need to work immediately and if they get their green card fast enough, they can save the $200 for EAD.

It just doesn't make sense that if they have all 10 of your digits for AOS that you should have to come in again for EAD.

Might not make sense but it's the requirement. EAD is sometimes needed to get a driver's permit, as it is here in Georgia. This is why most everyone files AOS and EAD together.

If you apply separately you have to go for Biometrics twice, but you only pay the $70 for the AOS.

Yes, very annoying.

That's a rather large gamble. Just because you have your interview does not mean you will be approved immediately. FBI name clearance can cause delays.

It's my personal recommendation that everybody file for AOS, EAD and AP concurrently. Not needing to work immediately is nice - what if a financial emergency comes up, or you just get bored and want to work? What if there is a family emergency back home and you NEED to get there?

I wouldn't bet my career/financial future or my ability to travel freely on an AOS interview. Because as said, what makes sense about this process?
