I'm not cool with any war. The rebels, however, have been recognized by France and have a lot of support among NATO countries. If they have a legitimate gripe, which I believe they do, we should support them. Maybe you'd like us to continue propping up despots like Gadhafi, which by the way was done for strategic reasons, but it's time for him to go. I am not, however, in favor of an all out engagement. There's a good chance that air support from France and Britain will be all the rebels need to finally topple Gadhafi's regime.

That depends on the Rules of Engagement for the No-Fly Zone.

If it includes permission to engage surface targets, it might make a difference. If it doesn't, which is more likely, Gaddafi's forces have the upper hand in weapons and mobile armour and now have the momentum on the ground. Just stopping the Libyan Air Force flying will not do much to change the situation on the ground. Two/Three weeks ago might have been a different story.

This is a no-win situation for the Europeans or the US. Whatever is done, securing Libyan oil supplies will be seen as the main motivation. Any no-fly operations need to be carried out by the air forces of the Arab League nations.

Personally, I think we need to keep out of Libya.
