I am about to file my N-400. However, don't understand the following question:

Part 8 About Your Matital History

G

1.Prior Spouse's Family Name

Whose name should I put??

My husband Dan Baker was married once to Christina Hartert.

Should I put my hubby's name or his ex-wife's?

Thank you!!!

If the question is about your husband it would be his ex wife last name prior to marriage i assume that would be Hartert, If it is directed to you and you have a ex spouse it would be his family name and if you do not have a ex spouse it would be N/A

Cute avatar you have, didn't know you can do that, ha, should I show my mean face?

Let's see, Part 8 section G. How many times has your spouse been married, etc. As young as you look, hopefully just once, and to you. The rest of it would be loaded with N/A's.

For my stepdaughter, was "0" with N/A's for the rest. For my wife, I was naughty and was married once before and to her, so I was married two times and she had to put a 2 in that box. But what the hell, she was already married once before herself, so that may us even. We both wish we met 25 years ago. We both admit to being stupid back then, and both of us had 25 years of living hell, we would like to forget about those days, but the damned USCIS keeps on bring up this subject over and over again. Would think our AOS stage would have been enough!

So had to dig our divorce papers out again, and copy them, hers is only seven pages long, mine was over 50 pages printed on both sides. I typed in the rest of it, my spouses full name the day we were married and divorced. But at least I could check my ex was a US citizen, so they couldn't accuse me of marrying to bring immigrants into this country. Think my wife would have had problems with her citizenship if say I had married and divorced a dozen immigrants.

Was your spouse married before? If not, just put in a 1 for the number of times he was married (to you) and put in N/A's in the rest of the boxes. But if he was married a dozen times before, need a separate sheet of paper, and you may have problems if he has to check that LPR or other box. But hopefully, not.
