Hi,

My fiance sent in her k1 packet 3 recently. A few days later she got the call/letter to appear for her Canadian Citizenship ceremony. So we are excited about that but I am a little concerned. How does this affect our K1 process with the Montreal Consulate? For Packet 3 and I129-F we used her Permanent Resident Card and Peruvian Passport- which is still valid and will be for the interview. Has anyone any idea? Thanks.

Sent I129-F to Vermont Service Center- 7/23/10

NOA2- 1/26/11

Case sent to Montreal Consulate General of the United States, Visa Unit 1/31/11

RFE-for Canadian proof of Status 2/23/11

Packet 3 received from consulate- 3/07/11

Packet 3 sent (2nd time after a correction)- 3/28/11

Packet 3 received by consulate/Packet 4 sent- 4/8/11

Interview-5/18/11

It shouldn't, really. Once she gets her Canadian naturalization certificate, she should just call or email the Montreal consulate with her consulate case number, and advise them of the situation and ask if they need any additional documentation prior to the interview. They'll almost certainly want her to bring the new naturalization certificate to the interview, and may want a scan of it emailed in in the meantime, but that would be it. I can't see it affecting the K-1 approval in any way.
