This isn't an issue right now, and to be honest I don't see it being on in the future, but just for curiosity's sake I thought I would ask. When my Husband and Father-in-law filled out their AOS forms (we needed a co-sponsor as my Husband is in his last year of University and cannot work enough hours to meet the income requirement), my Husband put us as a family of two, and my Father-in-law put himself as a family of four including myself. My question is this: If we got pregnant, how would that effect things? The forms are already submitted, so would we have to amend them some how? He and I aren't planning to start our family until after immigration is done because we want to be together during pregnancy as well as that will give him the opportunity to find a job in his field of study that offers medical insurance. That said, we all know accidents happen. So I am just curious what effect that would have on a form previously submitted which, at the time, was accurate information? The co sponsor wouldn't be an issue, even with a 5th family member, just not sure how we would go about updating that news as we wouldn't want it to seem like we were hiding it?

thanks a bunch!

Only affects you if the baby is born before the interview. Then you change to family of 3 instead of 2.

The baby would then need CRBA and to get a US passport.

A non-issue. The petitioner's I-864 doesn't need to be updated/amended unless the child would be born before the interview. And it would not impact the joint sponsor's affidavit as the child would be a US citizen.

As long as the forms submitted are, at the date and time they are dated, a true and accurate snapshot of reality as it stands at the time, everything is fine. There is no official process, or any particular need, to notify USCIS if and when you become pregnant between filing for AOS and an AOS interview, if you have one.

If you do have an AOS interview, and have become pregnant [or delivered] in the interim, simply tell the IO at the interview. Even at that, they won't have to amend the form, because none of the AOS forms even have a field for indicating pregnancy. So you couldn't have told them about a pregnancy, even if you were pregnant at the time of filing. :)

If you deliver prior to an interview, simply tell them at the interview and they'll amend your forms at the interview to include the new child. It wouldn't be a problem.

DON'T PANIC

:D thank you both! I was unsure about whether it would effect us being pregnant or not. We aren't... but we also didn't want to take the chance that it would. I am sending in my IV package this week so barring an RFE we should be getting close to an interview date assignment.. I cant see it taking 9 months to assign one! so at least that is a relief IF something did happen. thank you again!
