We filed the i-751 petition to remove condition for my k-1 wife and her 12 year old k-2 son. Received i-797 notice which mentioned wife but not son. Is this normal? His name and info were definitely on the i-751 petition.

Both went to biometrics but only wife's were taken. Is this normal?

Did you pay extra $85 for child's biometrics fee?

huh ? i thought was to be 2 forms, one for each person. the fee is less on the child when both forms for both people are filed together. if you not file 2 forms, what's up ?

Hi,

If the child was included in his mom I-751 form, and the fee for his biometrics was paid, then everything is fine. It’s perfectly normal for some children under 14 years old not to get a Biometrics appointment. Some get it others don’t. More likely he’s going to be approved at the same time that his mom.

Thank you. Yes, he was included on the i-751 and we paid the additional amount.

I just wanted to share the fact that I was in the same position as you with regards to my son not having biometrics done at the same time as I had them done.

I contacted the office just to make sure that it was not necessary although a fee is paid for the child.

The initial person I spoke to on the phone was obviously clueless as she told me that he would need to have them done and his appointment letter was lost in the mail.

However, I received this email today from the USCIS which clarified the fact that children under 14 do not need to have biometrics done although a fee of $85 is charged.

The status of this service request is:

The required biometrics for your son's Permanent Resident Card were successfully scanned from his I-485 material. Therefore, an appointment at the ASC is not necessary. Your son's card is currently in production. You should receive the card within 45 days.

Hope this helps!
