Hi everyone!

We just moved to Texas from Massachusetts. How do we get driver's license and registration for the car in Texas?

Thank you in advance.

Go to a Dept of Public Safety office and present your out of state licence and pay a fee. You won't have to take tests. Be prepared to wait as most offices are crowded. You don't have to go to your closest office--any will be fine.

Texas DPS That page has a link to the list of documents you have to present.

Car registration is done at your county tax assessor collector office. That could be in the county courthouse or a sub-station in most counties. Find your county on this page County Tax Offices and call the number to see if there is a sub-station closer than driving to the town where the county courthouse is located. While you're on the phone, ask what documents you need to get the Texas license plates like proof of insurance, car title, VIN number.
