Trying to find a Civil Surgeon that knows what she's doing.

i've had nothing but grief finding a CS in my area that can process my wife and 2 kids medical or immunizations. My now wife came over from Vietnam with her 2 kids via K1 and K2. The children are 16 and 13 years old.

I took my children my children to a childrens CS in Iowa pretty close to the town I live in. She made them go through complete physicals. The 16 year old had a xray taken in Vietnam for TB, the 13 year old girl din't need to be screened for TB(no xray). The doctor now wants us to wait 2 months to administer a TB skin test because they were recently updated their immunizations. They gave my son(16) a syphliss test. So now she says she cannot complete the paperwork( I693) I thought a K1visa physical in country of origin was good up to a year? Why is she making us go through all this ?

I found a CS in Chicago for my wife which is about 140 miles from my residence. He seems to think she needs a few shots and then translate the immunizations to I 693. He was the only CS that didn't want to sell me a bunch of procedures, all the ones in Iowa wanted to charge me 650 to 1300 dollars for my wife.

Is there a website where I can file a complaint with these unfair practices by the CS?

Nope theres nothing you can do except for call and find a new place to go to and not go to places like that. CS can charge whatever they want and seem to do whatever they want because there is NO regulation on immigration medicals.

K-1 medicals are good for 1 year. There are a lot of CS that try to screw you, a lot of the time it works too because people don't want to drive out of there way or just want to be done with the process so they give in and pay to get it over with.

I called some places in Iowa but ended up just going to one near me in Nebraska instead because they only charged 35$ for transcription no funny business etc.

The medical is valid for a year these docs are just trying to scam more money so don't go back. Have a look at Vanessa and Tony they live in Iowa and she may be able to advise you. You need to shop around and as far as the medical being valid all they need is to have the vaccinations supplement transcribed over to the I-693 not another full medical.

Not sure about the county you live in, but I know in Des Moines we went to the Polk County Health Department. We paid $220 total when we went to get my husband's I-693 transcribed. But that charge was for the varicella shots he still needed to get done. They charged nothing for the transcription itself.
