Hey All,

Do I need to do something special to my divorce decree when we marry in Nigeria? Like some sort of certification or authenticity stamp? I'm the USC and it will be my US divorce decree. He is beneficiary. Thanks for all replies!

Nigerian marriage act

I didn't see any mention about people that have prior marraiges but I would bring a certified copy just in case. I am not sure how long ahead you are arriving but make sure that the bond is properly posted long enough before the marriage. Lagos likes to trip people up on little things.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thanks NOB! I just spoke with my fiance and he said he did visit the registry on Monday. The bond must be posted for 21 days and the marriage must take place within 3 months. He didn't ask about the divorce decree however I'm sending him back just to be sure. I'm only able to visit every 6 months so if we don't get married in July then January would be the next date. My job won't allow me to take off during American winter holidays.
