Why is it that RUB chicks hate McDonalds ? I mean there's like 6 of them in Minsk, and they are always packed to the gills...but every RUB chick you talk to is anti Beeeg Mocks and Mock Cheeeken.

Yeap. Sounds like spring break, allright. Most Americans get spring break out of their systems before they hit their 21st birthdays.

Most Americans don't have a clue and their ####### puckers up every time they see something they can't relate to.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Thanks guys!! Awesome replies as usual. Yes, I am going mainly to meet one girl and she has a little planned schedule for us. She's taking the weekend off from work. I guess they work almost every day there. She's into museums and such and said we will spend the weekend seeing museums and walking in Dnipro park. I think there's a short cruise she mentioned on the river and something about Lavra (sp?) monastary and Lovers Bridge. She's a history buff and loves telling me about Ukraine history. I am arriving Mar 25, Friday night and she will be waiting at my flat. I think she mentioned us going to her favorite place for borsch for dinner. I also have a backup plan (B and C) in case her and I just don't fit. We'll see how things go. She seems really sweet and honest and I'm keeping an open mind but a watchful eye. They'll be no shopping sprees, or expensive restaurants every night, or parties for all the friends on my wallet. She's an accountant and lives on her own. So she's aware of paying bills and doing the daily grind.

Hmmm Squat toilets. Yeah I got the joy of using one of those squatter toys in Taiwan. We just do what we gotta do sometimes. An old man walked in while I was way into it and he started laughing...and saying something in Chinese. Maybe I was in the wrong position or something...

Thanks for all the other suggestions. I'll be in Kiev until Apr 1 (a full week). The girl I'm going meet was originally going to meet me on Saturday (I arrive in Kiev Friday night at 5pm). Then I said, well when I get there, I'll just take a shower and go check out this pub called Eric's Bierstube as it's next to my flat. Well...she immediately did an about face and said oh no no no...I can't leave you alone in Kiev. She said something could happen. So she's going to wait for me at my flat. And then we'll go have some dinner and maybe hit a club. She mentioned having one of her friends keeping me company while she's at work. I think she wants to keep an eye on me... :hehe: I told her not to worry as I was considering a day trip to Cernobyl while she's at work. Her response...."why would ANYONE want to go near that evil place??"

As far as evil places, she also asked me to not ask her to go to that evil American place McDs. I told her don't worry, I don't do McDs over here, I doubt I want to eat it over there. I want to taste all the local stuff. Then she mentioned something about salty fish...mmmmmm kkkkkkk maybe I don't want to try everything.. :)

I do really go crazy over her accent. The way the words come out are very cute and sexy. I don't think she realizes at all, but I giggle every time she says something with a "w" or a "th" in it.

Johnny

She knows damn well that if you go out alone Friday night you may well wake up Saturday with more than one other woman under the sheets with you. "something could happen" Indeed. She doesn't mean you would get mugged.

The area around Chernobyl has been closed off for years and I heard that they are considering opening it for tourist business  It is not a pleasant memory for Ukrainians.

Salty fish? I would keep a barf bag handy and give it a try. You will have to deal with it. Then again ralfing up your lunch in front of your new girl may not be a good idea. Better pass on that and go with blini, vereniki and even borsch.

OMG DirecTV has a new Russian commercial on, I just saw it!

The Russian accent is WAY hot, either in English or Russian (not sure if it is still a "Russian accent" if they speak Russian) Alla tells me Russian fairy tales, in Russian, when we go to sleep. Awesome way to fall asleep. The Russian fairy tales are diabolical though! Someone is always getting beaten or killed. I am sure she will one day tell me the fairy tale of the murder of Rasputin.

Something else. A lot of Ukraine is not so attractive, I do not mean the women. The downtown areas are nice and clean and modern and the Malls are just as nice as anything here. But you get outside of downtown or even in the rear of the buildings downtown and it is really ghetto looking. The common areas of even nice apartment houses do not look so nice. Wires hang out, windows are broken, elevators rarely work (if they even exist). Do not make an issue of that, OK. Many of the flats, inside, are immaculate and well decorated and clean, but outside is terrible. Do not be taking photos of that and saying "Oh wait until they see this in the USA!" There is nothing there you cannot deal with. Just be careful where you walk, there are some godawful holes in the sidewalk in places. This is her home and her country and it always will be.

The double standard applies. She will say things bad things about the USA but you do not say bad things about Ukraine.

Capitalist Chemical food full of fat, chemicals to kill insects and terrible bread (turn head and spit toward the ground)

Women have to hate McDonalds because they are women. It is like the Three Stooges.

I miss it over there :( I have plans on retiring over there if there's ever a change of government before that time happens. An apt. right in the center of Minsk over looking the river...and less than 1k from casino's, clubs, hotels, etc... The US could learn a thing or two from the RUB country's. Like how to loosen up and live a little.

Where have you been clubbing (dance) in the U.S.?

Ever been clubbing in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale?

No. Alla likes it though. We have to go. We went one night to a club in Burlington. Just my luck, it was the monthly lesbian night. Alla was a hit...me, not so much.

we plan on spending a lot of time in Ukraine when I retire, we may not live there "full time" but for a good part of the year, absolutely. Property in Donetsk is virtually free right now. Go over, find a flat and write a check for it.

Donetsk IS a major city, bigger than Odessa. About 1 million people. I think it is number 5 in size in Ukraine. Kharkov and Dniepropetrovsk are fairly close by, a couple hours drive. Kiev is a 12 hour train ride.

The stuff you guys have described sounds like Spring Break to me. Nothing particularly novel about any of it. Of course, you've alluded to even more risqué tales- perhaps those are different.

Are you saying you've never been clubbing (dance) in the U.S. outside of Burlington?

McDonalds is one of the few convenient "public" places to pee in Minsk while out strolling around and they have or had free wi-fi, so not really on the top of the list to take the little misses to for a meal maybe?

Add in the food is horrifying and relatively expensive compared to good local food, there is no reason to set foot in one except to PEE.

That would make me not very well traveled, at least not in the US. I can think of Dallas and Montreal where I have also been.

Never went to spring break. You also have to factor in the level of quality and hotness of RUB women.

I shall do no more than allude to anything else.

Iv'e been to hockey games with less of a line than in the McDondalds over there. Those people seemed to love it....except for the wife of course. I like the local resteraunts in Minsk, but it's nice to be able to wolf down a big mac now and then for a change of pace. :)

There's a major difference between the idiots that hit southern beaches here in the US for spring break, and the peeps at the night clubs over in Belarus. For one...several of the dancers that came to sit at our table actually had a clue on politics, economics, etc... they are actually well educated over there, they show it and don't act like iPhone/MTV idiots with half a brain.

Sexy yet smart. It's an entire different class of folks...hard to explain but the difference is there.
