Don't go getting all sentimental for the wrong reasons. Some of me and my wife's best times in Minsk were spent together in night clubs and strip clubs. It's all about having fun and letting loose. The last thing you want is some stuck up puritan relationship with the biggest highlight being dinner & TV.

Live a little.

Escorts?

Are you trying to insult Johnny?

He is going there to find his soulmate, not mess around with hookers.

Errrr yeah..."letting loose" at a nightclub is one thing, and hey if she's in to strip clubs and that floats your boat, cool. Hookers/escorts while you're meeting the woman you're going to marry...seems a little sleazy.

Escorts?

Depends on how far a couple is willing to take it to get their freak on. It's nothing I would recommend for the timid and faint of heart.

And if you made that post just because of the links...it was the night clubs on that link that I was trying to point out. Are you telling me you never went out with a gal, had a few drinks, let loose and did some dancing ?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I am VPNd in to work right now so obviously I didn't click on those links. I'm going by the titles you provided. One mentioned escorts.

I just noticed that after you made that last post of yours. I should have taken that part out of the link title. My bad.

The link that said "escorts" has a very long listing of...er...escorts, escort agencies, massage parlors, and an empty section about strip clubs. So I think the link is descriptive enough.

As I said...creepy and imho inappropriate when you're going to meet the woman you'll marry, unless of course you're up front with her that you're also sleeping with the local wildlife.

Get off it already. I already said once I posted those links for the night clubs...and strip clubs, not for the escorts so don't start your ####### and try to make it something that it's not.

I usually don't even read your post on here for the obvious reasons, but I made an exception this time.

It's just that there weren't any night clubs or strip clubs listed in the escort agency link, so I drew the only conclusion I could.

Anyway, I just saw the post where you said posting the link was a mistake, so it seems we're agreed anyway. Peace.

Live a little.

FWIW I had a really good friend I met about the 2nd or 3rd day in Ukraine. Her name was Tatyana and she was what you would describe as a "puritan". It was not a romantic relationship (meaning no sex, ever) but she was interested in a lot of cultural things and was my companion for lots of trips to the museums etc. and lots of long walks. I did buy her a few gifts during the time I knew her (more than three years) but nothing more than you would buy a friend here. She was very religious and for that reason we would never have been a "thing" but we were good friends and there was never any sort of pressure to "do anything". She was not jealous of other women who I went out with "for other reasons". Alla was not so keen about her.

I would not invite someone I was meeting for the first time to a strip club. A dance club maybe (sometimes the two get blurred  ) It would depend on the person I guess. I would not expect to do that. Had I done that when I met Alla it would have been our last evening together. You can't go wrong with walking around the city (Ukrainians do a lot of that and like it, a "walking date" is still one of Alla's favorites) night or day, here or there and it usually involves stopping somewhere for tea or coffee or something to eat, a bit of shopping or going to a museum or a theatre or a concert of some sort (they are all over the place) Later on in the relationship, we used to go to a sports bar of sorts in Donetsk (still do) that has girls in thongs (only thongs) dancing on the bar. They also have billiards and an indoor shooting range with pop-up targets of Germans ( ) and little attention is paid to the topless dancing girls. Alla has no problem with that. It is just kind of a Ukraine thing...beautiful girls in almost no clothes...so? But it is not a "first date" kind of place, IMO.

Go go dancers seem to be a big hit in RUB country's..for obvious reasons of course. They look hot, and RUB peeps aren't stuck up like the do nothing no lifers here.

I took a gamble (or so I thought) after day #3 in Minsk with Kira and went out dancing and then to a strip club....I mean every guy has to know one way or another if his wife, gf, whatever is into the wild scene...whether it be with a few extra chicks, getting a table dance from a guy, or gal for that matter...whatever. So ya, I hit a home run that night so to say. Things got even better when her university friend from Vitebsk stayed with us for a few days...but that's another story, and not for this board. :)

Do they really get blurred? I've been to lots of dance clubs and strip clubs in the U.S. and they're not the same thing. If there's a stage in the middle with a bunch of guys sitting around the perimeter staring at those bouncing titties, you're not in any dance club I've ever seen. If a girl sits down next to you, starts discreetly rubbing your crotch with her hands and asks you to go to VIP with her for only $300 for 30 minutes, you're not in a dance club. You're at a strip club. They're very, very different here in the U.S.

What are the similarities in the Ukraine?

Again it goes back to you never spending time in a RUB country. It's not like here. In Minsk alone there is a few strip clubs that are mingled with a dance floor for customers...like a night club. Some of those clubs are guy and chick dancers, and then there is strip clubs there that are "black tie only" that serve shrimp, caviar, etc...

I've spent some considerable time in a "RUB" country, and for the most part the stuff you see there is almost exactly like anything you'd see in Europe. There really nothing special or strange about dance/strip clubs in former Soviet countries that doesn't exist anywhere else in Europe. That's about as "blurred" as it gets.
