NVC - Alternative Method of Payment

Hello All,

This is my first post to VisaJourney and I should begin by thanking the community. Although I have been silent till now, everything I have read on here has been invaluable.

I am the beneficiary to the CR1 application and I have just received my invoice for the Immigrant Visa fee of $404.00 payable to the NVC. I want to pay this myself from London but I cannot find any information regarding if the NVC will accept a money order/postal order sent from abroad (albeit denominated in USD).

Before I contact NVC directly does anyone have any more information on this???

Regards

Milan

All payments must be drawn from a US bank account

Thanks Samoray,

I have seen these pages already. I understand that you can pay using Cashier's Check or a Money Order, but it doesnt specify if these have to be drawn in the US. E.g. I want to get a USD Money Order from a UK Post Office and mail it to NVC from UK.

Since there is the restriction on having to have a US checking account when paying online then perhaps there is a similar restriction on where you source the money order??

Look i don't know for a fact that it has to be a money order from a US post office but logically i would say it has to be, cause if you compare it with the online payment then it would be that ( you put your money in your bank and the bank pays the NVC, and you give your money to the post office and post office pays the NVC according to the Money order, so i think either way it has to be in the US

Call them and make sure and let me know

Good Luck

Try going to a local Citibank or other such US banks located in England. They should be able to provide you a cashier's check that satisfies the DOS requirement. It just has to be a US Bank in US currency so you should be golden. Ask the bank first. If that doesn't pan out do you know someone (your spouse, spouses family members) in the US that you can send a regular money order or check to and they can do the money order here. If there is an American military installation near you and you know someone from the post they can obtain a US Postal Money Order for you.
