I am coming for my fiancee's interview in Moscow. How far can I go? Can I enter embassy? I am USC

In Moscow, you won't be allowed to accompany your fiancee into the Embassy for the interview.

You can wait on the sidewalk outside the Embassy, there are a couple of coffeeshops/restaurants in the area where you can wait, or there is a small park just north of the Embassy.

Thank you!

btw-- even though you can't go in with your fiancee for the interview, here's one "trick" you can use to make your presence known, especially if your fiancee has fairly good English skills----

Make a copy of the biographical page of your passport and of the page(s) showing your visa and entry stamp --- keep these with you just in case you happen to run into someone who asks to see your documents while she's having her interview--- the chances of this happening (especially right in front of the US Embassy) are VERY remote, but best to be prepared, just in case.

Have your fiancee take your passport in with her. During the interview, she can say something like, "If you have any questions for my fiance, he is waiting right outside", as she slides your blue passport toward the interviewer. It won't guarantee an approval, but it'll probably earn you quite a few bonus points regarding the sincerity of your relationship.

Thank you! This is great advice!

You could do this but you shouldn't need to, provided that you have a real relationship and you know all about his previous past....those 10 former wives, all those children, all those felony convictions. If you do, then you are golden.

Please please go to the RUB regional forum (Russia-Ukraine-Belarus) and read through the detailed sticky. It described in detail which door to go into, the exact procedures you'll encounter inside, where to sit, which window to go to. etc. etc. Lots of info plus a nice map of the local area showing where to get the DHL prepaid envelope, the medical, etc.

Also in the RUB forum you'll get info specific to Moscow from those who have gone through there or are going through there.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
