Congratulations!

We had our interview this morning at 11:45 at Federal Plaza.

We arrived about 30 minutes in advance and were called on time.

The lady who interviewed us was lovely. She swore us in and asked for our passports and wedding certificate. Then she asked a few questions to my husband (petitioner).

- Did you travel with your wife outside of the US?

- When did you marry?

We brought some papers of which she took, the last bank statement and the last ConEd, National Grid and cell bills. My husband had prepared a photo album with many pictures of our relationship from 2009 when we met up to now. She took that album and made a copy of our driving licenses.

She was very smiley and then told us we would receive the green card at our address after the security check is done.

Did you get a verbal approval or your IO handed you a paper stating you were approved?

At least she "approved" of your interview. Now, you just have to wait :) Let us know if it takes longer than a month.

Hey guys,

So me and my wife had our interview yesterday at 10:00 am at 26 Federal Plaza. We got there at 9;20ish and there was no line at security and there were only about 15 people in the waiting room. Exactly at 10:00 our immigration officer, a serious looking man in his 50s, came out and called our names. He took us back to his office, made us swear in and asked for our passports, birth certificates and any documents with both of our names on. We gave him our lease, our renters insurance, our jointly filed taxes and our joint bank information. He looked them over and asked my wife when and where I was born and then asked me the same question about her. He asked my wife when we moved in together and me how much we pay for our renters insurance. After that he my wife about my job and then asked me about my wife's educational background. After that he asked me some of the yes/no questions on the I-485 and then told us to give him 5 min to do some work.

He typed some stuff and then took out a green stamp labeled "Approved" and stamped my I-485 form, told us he approved it and that I will have to apply to have the conditions removed from my Green Card in about a year and 9 months.

We had brought a ton of stuff, like pictures, letters, wedding invitations etc but he said he didn't need to look at any of those. Our IO was nice but very serious, although he actually did crack a smile in the end.

About an hour later I got a text/email that my card was in production, but since I am a "worrier" I guess I won't feel calm until I have the card in my hand.

Congrats! Do any of NY filers who had their interviews this month are still waiting for an approval text? My case hasn't been updated online. It seems like some people get a text hours later while others are still waiting for it.

I got approved verbally so I wonder why this is taking so long. My interview was on January 15th.

So happy to find this forum

We filed my husband's AOS on August 14, 2015, and received a Notice of potential interview waiver on Nov. 24 2015. Since then it's been radio silence and his status hasn't changed from "Fingerprint recieved" but it's good to see things moving along here to keep us hopeful..
