Hi, just wanted to share my progress and I have couple of questions:

We are early November 2014 filers and we finally got our interview date last Friday. The interview will be on October 21st in Jacob Javits Federal Building. Basically, it was a 10 month wait, instead of expected 3-6 months as we were told before. From what I understand, the field office in Queens was closed this past January, so all the files were sent to NYC field office, which dramatically affected the timing of the whole process.

Now I have couple of questions in regards of what we are supposed to bring with us for the interview:

In the letter it says to bring Medical Records and I-485 (unless previously submitted). We obviously submitted the documents back in November, do we still have to bring them with us? And do I need to get a medical exam again, considering that my last one was over a year ago? Thanks

10 months. Unbelievable. Congrats on the interview! But that's insane!

I don't think it hurts to bring the I-485. As far as the medical exam, I'm not sure. Perhaps you should call USCIS and see what they say?

Congrats on the interview, couldn't help with your question, call them asap.

Yes, the field office at LIC got flooded and the slow process became even slower... they should have acted on this since this past Jan, and all NYC filers are in pain. This is totally bs.

Good luck, keep up posted!

When did you had your medical examination?

It is valid for a year. If it is expired you must re do it because USCIS could issue you an RFE for expired medical even during the actually interview day. You dont want that it will delay their decision.

But if you want to make sure, you can call USCIS and inquire. Best of luck!

APPROVED ON THE SPOT!!!!

Had my interview today, we were approved instantly,

We arrived 30 mins before our interview time, and actually saw two couples we know in the waiting room. Anyhow we checked in and waited, we waited approximately 45 mins before we were called. When we went into the office we had our new born with us, the IO asked how I the applicant met my wife, she asked us the yes no questions on the I 485, she asked me what her date of birth was and if we were working, she also when we met and what other documents we had with us. As I gave her our photo album and joint credit card bills, bank statements and utility bills and out child's birth certificate she was flipping through the photos and I was telling her the details of each one in terms of location time and so on. She then looked at us and said your son is so adorable, you will get your green card in 30 days. She then said congratulations, gave me a letter and then walked us out. As we walked to the car I received text and email saying the card was ordered, then I also got one telling me the I-130 was approved. Along with one telling me to expect my welcome notice in the mail soon and my green card should get to me by dec 14th.
