I find it unbelievable that NYC is so much slower than the smaller offices. I understand that NYC receives a much more significant amount of cases, but you would think their office would have more employees/resources to still process everything in a comparable time frame. Very frustrating.

Yes very frustrating as New York City Field Office is way way behind. As of July 31, 2015 they are processing I-485 applications filed November 2014. Sometimes it could take 8-12 months.

As for your EAD/AP application,processing time is about 75 to 90 days.

Adjustment of Status Timeline from J1 Visa

05/13/2015 - Sent I-485/I-130/I-765/I-131 to USCIS.

05/18/2015 - Received I-797 NOA with Receipt Numbers.

05/25/2015 - Received Biometrics appointment letter

06/10/2015 - Biometrics Appointment done

06/15/2015 - Received RFE letter dated 6/9/15

07/08/2015 - Sent reply to RFE

07/14/2015 - USCIS confirmed receipt of our reply to RFE

07/25/2015 - I-131 AP approved

07/27/2015 - I-765 EAD approved

08/04/2015 - USCIS sent EAD/AP

08/05/2015 - Received EAD/AP approval notice
08/14/2015 - Received EAD/AP card

12/03/2015 - Interview scheduled for January 8, 2016

01/08/2016 - Interview. I-485 AOS approved

01/10/2016 - I-485 and I-130 approval notice mailed

01/12/2016 - 'New Card' was mailed

<----- not true I also filed mid August and just had interview done today (nov 26th) and status updated to card production. Just be patient, it could all be about luck according to who have had

Thanks for your help! I am aware of the estimated processing times, but I truly hope our EAD will arrive sooner than 75-90 days (we know of an NYC filer who recently received theirs within 60 days). Patience is a virtue!

Hi everyone,

My status changed to "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for Interview" today ( as of September,16 ).

I'm an early February filer from New York City and I got potential interview waiver letter in June. Does that mean that I'll be having an interview or still have a chance to be waived for interview? In both ways it seems like i'm so close to end of this waiting period.

Hi guys,

I finally got my interview update via email and texts I still haven't received the actual letter but think it should be here in a weeks time or so, it scheduled for OCT 21st, so happy about that.

now on the other hand I was planning on renewing my passport as it expires on OCT 17, or is it not required at the interview for those who have done theirs.

@nydot, I don't know I'm so sorry, if I were you I would call the USCIS and ask, I do feel that you wont have an interview, the ready to be scheduled comes up at a stage in the process, so it is just the stage in line with your notice of potential interview waiver, again I repeat I don't know this as a fact it's just what I understand from some threads VJforums

09/17/2015....... interview scheduled for OCT 21st.

It is long way too long, the reason is I believe NYC has the most applications hence the reason they have so many local offices, the one in Chicago covers most of Illinois and part of Indiana, so it just shows the amount they must be processing, the wait is crazy I waited almost 9 months since priority date just for the scheduling by the date of interview will be pushing 10 months, now by the time I have to remove conditions I will be eligible for Citizenship. (Presuming the incoming president doesn't turn the whole thing on it's head)

i got an infopass and went to the NYC office on the 60th day following my AOS interview. Apparently it worked, my online status changed: "my new card is being produced". yaaas
