i called USCIS hotline today and was basically told that i was still within the normal processing time. The processing time on the website has been updated, they now say that they're reviewing cases from Sept 10th, so if you filed before then you can put in for a service request.... i was told i still have to wait 52 days before i can apply for a service request....

i guess there's nothing to do but sit tight..... waiting for this for more than 6 months is all kinds of bull**** though

The lady on the phone from USCIS mentioned that the NYC office must be 'really busy'

Hi everyone,

Also want to add my timeline to the NYC thread.

I'm actually more anxious for the EAD card since I have a job that starts June 1.

I will try to do a biometric walk in soon, but if anyone has any other ideas about how I can expedite the EAD, would be deeply appreciated :)

Thanks! Good luck to all of us!

Just came back from a successful walk-in at Varick St.

Appointment was initially for May 23rd.

Got there at 8am sharp, but there was already 20+ ppl in line.

Moved reasonably fast, make sure you have no metal on you and turn off your cell phones.

Officers were pretty nice, just said I was really early for my appointment, I told them I am making a trip abroad and wanted to get it done sooner. (BTW, is totally true)

Timeline

Just went out of the interview...a piece of cake. We were late because of the line at the entrance of the federal plaza bulding in NYC and show up 15 mn late. That was fine and we had to wait for something like 30mn (despite they announced there a 2 hours wait)

Interview went smooth and easy, few questions about our address, phone number, place/date of birth, where we met, if our parents attended our wedding etc...

She asked me as well my wife cell number and she was quite suprise that I knew the answer, most people use their cell contacts and does not know the #. She has well check our pictures quickly and asked one question about one pics.

She told me that we should be approved but she wanted to check some stuff on their record first but unless I am a terrorist or have been to jail etc....I should get a approval letter from them within one week from now...

Overall, she was very nice !

Almost done now :)

My timeline:

10/2009 - E2 Visa delivered by the US Embassy in Paris.

NBC is not the slow one... they seem to be pretty good in terms of processing EAD and AP. The slow factor is the NYC interview. There is a different section in the "processing times" where you click on the "local office" and put in NYC. That will give you an approximate time frame.

7/20/09 - When we met
9/16/09 - When we started dating

I am waiting for my biometric appt for almost 1.5 month since I filed AOS. It varies a lot. Don't worry. By the way, which number do you call USCIS. I call 1-800-767-1833, but I could not speak to a representative. Any help?

Hello everyone, Just a quick questions and its kind of hard for me to really find out what's going on.

I have filed for my AOS Nov 12th 2010. Biometrics was on 1/26/11. Already received EAD and AP.

It's been about 1.5 months since biometrics and I haven't received any interview letter yet. I have called up USCIS and spoke to the customer service there and the lady told me that the I-130 could take up to 5 months and the I-485 could take up to 1 year. She said that my application looks good and is "pending".

I just find that a bit odd since most people on VJ seem to get their interviews within 3-4 months of filing.

I am wondering if anyone on VJ lives in the NYC area and what the most common timeline is like.

Hello my fellow New Yorkers!

Here's my timeline:

Filed on March 11 (I-765, I-485)

Got the receipts on March 24 (Dated March 14)

Got the biometrics appointment on March 28 (Dated April 29)

Got the biometrics done on April 29

I honestly don't care if it takes another 3 months or 5 months, but here's what is worrying me:

When I enter my receipt # on the website, it shows me the following message:

"On March 14, there was a notice sent to you on how we're going to handle things"

That's basically all I see, is this normal? I initially thought it'd say something like, "We sent you the biometrics appointment" or "We received your biometrics"

Can someone please confirm if its normal?

Thanks..

P.S. I'm a pretty patient guy, and would advice others to be patient as well and do not stress over the wait because it'll come when it has to come! Enjoy life

Yes - this is absolutely normal. In fact, mine still says "On November 18th..." - and the rest reads like yours.
