Go to your screen name on the top right, click the arrow, then click settings. On the left side of the page you'll see some tabs. Click on the one that says signature...you can post a summary of your timeline there. It'll be great to share with others going through the process. I'm still waiting here with no word. Congratulations and keep us posted

Just concluded the interview. Appointment was 8AM in Long Island City and we got there at around 7AM. Sat in first floor waiting room for nearly an hour before our lawyer arrived when we then proceeded to the second floor.

Waited nearly another 1.5 hours before we were called. The IO was a mid age African American. She asked for all original ID’s which our lawyer furnished. The IO made sure to check the Driver Licenses to make sure the addresses match. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having matching state ID’s. This is probably the number 1 red flag if the addresses do not match!!!!

She then started asking my wife (the beneficiary) the following:

n Her name

n Date of birth

n My name

n My date of birth

n Home Address

My wife was super nervous and got my birthday wrong by accident but then was quick to correct herself.

She then continued to ask

n How we met?

n Description of our first date and what happened afterwards.

n When we got married and who was present at the ceremony and also how we celebrated. We told her we had a simple civil wedding but will have a grander one soon. She asked how many people present at civil ceremony and how many are expected at the bigger reception

n She asked whether I have met my wife’s dad and then whether my wife has met my parents.

n She then asked how often we meet each other’s parents.

After that she started to ask my wife how she came to the country, what she does for a living and then what I do for a living. After that she asked for pictures and presentation of documents; we prepared:

n 2012 Joint taxes with state tax refund check in our joint name

n Updated pay stubs showing married status

n My work emergency contact and change of status

n Retirement and Investment Account beneficiary form

n Joint bank account statements. I showed the first one and the most recent 2-3 statements.

n Auto insurance statement

n Health insurance and usage summary showing both of our names

n Joint cell phone statement

n Wedding vendors invoices

She asked how long I have lived in my place and when I responded nearly a decade, she said “no wonder you didn’t add her to your house deed.” She then started going through the photo album page by page (we have a 400 picture album in chronological order starting from the first party that we met at to present day). She went page by page and seemed impressed. She then just asked for one picture to keep and we gave her a picture of my wife’s parents and us celebrating my wife’s birthday.

After that we were done and she said we should be getting the card soon. I then excitedly asked “are we approved?” and then she said “I don’t see any reason not to.” She handed back our ID’s and I-94. Our lawyer asked her whether she needed our I-94 and she cryptically said “I don’t need it this time but maybe another time.” She then wrote “status pending” in my wife’s passport and handed us a sheet of paper saying our file was due for further review and we will receive response in mail. We were a bit taken back by the I-94 exchange / comment but dwell on it too much as plenty of other posters here have experienced the same thing.

She then escorted us out and. 20 minutes later she gave us a heart attack as she called us as we had just driven away indicating that we needed to return ASAP. Our hearts dropped. Our lawyer called back and it turns out she forgot to ask us the I-485 “yes / no” questions so we had to U-turn and return back.

Went through the entire security sequence all over again and then waited nearly 45 minutes before she called us back in. She apologized profusely. I told her our lawyer was not able to return and she said that’s fine as our lawyer knows what this is for. She asked for my Naturalization Certificate and then asked my wife each and every I-485 “Yes / No” questions and then said we were done. She then escorted us and wished us a nice weekend.

So I am back at work know hoping to get the approval text / email. Will keep the forum updated.

Hi Striker! Congratulations on getting through another part of the journey! It sounds like it went well so don't dwell on the I-94 exchange/comment. You saw how long it took us to get approved after the interview and now they seem to have caught up a bit better at Fed Plaza, so fingers crossed, your wait will be brief! Go celebrate tonight and reward yourselves for getting this far!

No problem. I just put up a condensed version! Nitehero, you got interviewed the day before us and are still waiting. It shouldn't be long now, surely. You're nearly at the 60 day mark - time to think about putting in a service request, perhaps?
