Honestly, you never know with these guys. What kills me is that fact that they've left us with no feed back after 5 weeks. Very unprofessional.

Yep - Unprofessional and also there's no consideration that they're actually in control of people's lives. I have a serious autoimmune disease and was doing really great for the last couple of years until it triggered again two weeks ago due to the stress of all of this. Again, we are only numbers in the machine!

I am sorry to hear about your health issue. I suggest you try to relax, don't let these lazy and inconsiderate bureaucrats harm your well being. I am sorry to hear about your health issue. I suggest you try to relax, don't let these lazy and inconsiderate bureaucrats harm your well being. It's easier said than done I know, but it's the summer time so you and your spouse should try to be out and about, that can serve as distraction from this mess

I feel both of your pain Nitehero and Artist. This is mind boggling why things are taking so long. Hang in there and hopefully this nightmare will end for both of you soon. I think 2 months should be the max wait at least based on one other NYC'er getting approved after 2 months.

Just found the following on background checks. Read the last sentence. I wonder what countries are singled out for more extended background checks?


Because interviews are being scheduled rather quickly theses days, there is not that much time from the fingerprints appointment date and the actual interview.Sometime the outside agencies (FBI, etc.) are not able to complete all security checks on the applicants before the interview date.If this is the case, the officer can still approve the case, but the Green Card will not be issued until all security checks are clear.You must check back with the local office periodically to see if there is any progress with the file.Applicants from certain countries might be a more likely target for security checks.

I think you are right, I will wait till the 60th day to start bugging them. I won't go for the info pass appointment I have tomorrow. I'll save my energy and time

Hi, all!

My interview date is coming next week at Jackson Ave L.I.C, is that office also slow as Federal plaza with background checks or ?! Anyone?

I believe federal plaza is by far the worst in NYC, but there is no way of telling if you'll face delays like us. Just prep for your interview and hope you get approved quickly

To SMario,

I also have my interview soon in Long Island City. There is no indication whether we will be backlogged but thus far most of the delayed cases have been at Federal Plaza.

But in the past when the LIC staff was in Garden City, there were some delays as well. Holtsville seems to churn through cases pretty quickly.

LIC and Federal Plaza, its luck of the draw. Nothing we can do about it other than to be prepared and wish for the best.
