New York City AOS timeline & Interviews

Uhhh.. When we originally filed early March, I was hoping for an interview in June, since I am supposed to be in Finland organizing and attending my own wedding for all of July.. now, after following this thread, I am starting to actually hope it will take us over the 5 month mark to have our interview scheduled, since that would be after I'd be back from Finland. It does not seem likely AT ALL that as a March NYC filer we would have any chance what so ever to get an interview before July 1st - we might not even have the interview letter by then.

And siasimba, sorry for the earlier comment! Somehow I managed to miss the fact that this thread was specifically created for NYC filers and just registered the "November filer" part :) It seems that there definitely is a need for a separate NYC thread, as the processing times here apparently vary a lot from the national averages..

Even if the interviews are scheduled much later than national average wait for AOS interviews, it would make things so much easier to handle if USCIS would even send out the interview letters earlier! At least the petitioners would know that there is an interview coming, and could also try to plan according to that schedule. I don't really care whether the interview itself is in August, September or even October, but I would really prefer to know the date as soon as possible.

wow... ronaldq... you filed in september? Why dont you call to make sure that you are not missing anything. Someone from November already got interview date. As for myself, I still haven't received anything yet. So I guess the waiting game continues. Like you, I thought it wouldn't take as long either. I knew someone who got their GC in 3 months. They must have filed it 1-2 months before me.

siasimba...i have called several times and all they tell me is that we are within processing time and that everything is fine. I am planning on calling again but this time as them what that processing time is.

I talked to my friend last night, he filed at the beginning of February 2010, late March received the EAD, and his interview was scheduled to June 23rd 2010.

so man i don't get it why for some people it takes longer...so hopefully us applied in march should get it by July then......

he also said his interview was a joke, IO didn't ask anything almost he said, questions like his wife's parents name and that was about it.

well i did notice that the NY office was processing AOS application at a rapid rate early last yr. I think it was because they were not backed up or received a lot of applications at that time. But if you look at USCIS site, ever since September they started receiving a lot of applications which can cause delays.

Hello All,

My Wife and I live in Queens. We sent in AOS/EAD on 10/3/2010 and received NOA on 10/15/2010.

She had received her EAD on 12/23/2010. 3.5 months later, in the current time, like many of you all we are also waiting for a response regarding AOS.

Process has been quite tedious but I see that some have been waiting longer than us.

Good luck all.

NYCSNN - was your case status updated on USCIS web site prior to you receiving an interview notice?

Hi, the case status was NOT updated on the website before we received the notice in the mail. The letter came in the mail before I received the text and email notifications. So, it was a nice surprise. I think that the text/email came within a day or so after the letter's arrival, which would've been a few days after the letter was dated/sent. Not 100% sure, but I think the website was updated within the same time frame.

So, keep an eye on your mailbox instead of the website!

Our biometrics and EAD timing is within about ten days of yours. Might want to wait a little bit longer and hope it shows in the next week or two?
