The three blaimee's are the govt, the illegals and the knowing (most of em) employers. If one of those dropped out, the problem would go away.

Privatize immigration enforcement (i.e. government 'drops out')?

You will have very little luck cracking down on employers. This is a huge country and the same logistical challenges that are present in manning the entire border are also present in trying to crack down on each and every employer. Simply mandating e-verify won't cut it because you'll just have people working for cash without any docs at all. You'll need agents everywhere.

The IRS has you and me and every employer by the throat. Cracking down is no problema as they have the systems and know where we are..

Working for cash would be great because it leaves the employer with NO excuse and an easy fraud conviction can be obtained. We would all be working for cash if it was easy for employers

If 500 people are working for cash in a meat packing plant, then sending the employer up the river for fraud and conspiracy and an accessory to XYZ and confiscating his business would be easy peasy. Can't say he didnt know.

Lawn maintenance work for individual householders for cash will not support 11 million illegals.

If they privatize it, I will do the programming and systems work and then I will be become a billionaire in the first week and then be out of a job as they will have all gone

Canada has a higher quality of life than this country does. There is very little reason for any Canadian to illegally enter the U.S.

Muslim terrorist came through Canada into the US...same with thousands of illegal Chinese immigrants...they get into Canada and then sneak into the US...or they used to anyways.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

There is no need to stop crossings on the north, and

yes, there is a force! It is called Russian Army :)

Russia has a pretty long border, too... and it is very well protected.

If we call up google maps we can see the size of the northern and southern borders of the USA combined, is equivalent to a line from Ireland to India

Unfortunately, there is no force on earth who could stop crossings on a border that length

The whole of the US Military could not do it. The Chinese army could not do it. If I was in Canada with a rucksack and it was May, I could walk a across anytime and anywhere - thousands and thousands of miles of nothing.

The Ruski army are so good they can almost stop the Chechins attacking the Moscow subway

But not quite.... not yet...

The best protected border is that of a country that nobody wants to go to

Antarctica has no border patrols and zero immigration

Rika's post wouldn't have been so funny if it weren't for the fact that the dirtiest of them all in regards to smuggling in Russia is helped out most by the Russian border patrol. They get a cut out of it to turn the other cheek so to say...and they do make their rubles...whether it be smuggling heroin into Russia, and/or smuggling underage girls out of Russia and into China.

Even the Afghans managed to chuck the red army out PDQ. At least it took a couple of hundreds years before the Brits called it a draw and I bet it will take three hundred to throw the US out

So the liberals have spoken. Why even bother securing the border. We can't win. It's useless. Just let 'em all come. I surrender. We owe them a better life. It's all our fault.........etc., etc.

LOL...you think it's just the libs that want us to be over run by illegal immigrants ?

Here's the article I posted on another thread. In order to get the government to actually do something in regards to keeping out the illegals, you have to get American business behind it...or at least for it.

"Oklahoma Senate passes Arizona-style immigration bill"

OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) – The Oklahoma state Senate on Wednesday approved an Arizona-style immigration bill that gives police the authority to verify the citizenship status of motorists during legal traffic stops.

The bill, passed by a 29-15 vote, also enables police to seize vehicles, real estate, firearms and computers used to engage in human smuggling, armed robberies and other crimes.

The bill now goes to the state House, which last week passed an immigration reform bill that gives officers more authority to question citizenship status.

"Today's vote sends a message to the people of Oklahoma that we have listened to their concerns and acted accordingly," said state Sen. Ralph Shortey, R-Oklahoma City, sponsor of the bill.

"I authored this proposal because I care about the people of my district and have witnessed firsthand the manner in which illegal immigration can limit economic development, increase crime rates and tear families apart," he said.

Opponents questioned whether the bill could withstand court challenges. They also raised concerns about the effect the immigration reform bill could have on the state's economy.

The original bill called for penalties to be assessed against employers who knowingly hired undocumented workers and included a requirement that the employers fire such workers.

That provision was stripped from the bill after business interests in the state lobbied against it.

So suggesting that hammering employers so that illegals have no work is a liberal suggestion ? (suggestion A)

I suppose it is because the US is run solely for corporations

The nasty party would prefer to gun down families on the border (suggestion B)

rather than take away their incentive for coming

Suggestion A hurts illegal hiring company's profits and means no blood - so that's out

Suggestion B (gun em down) is culturally attractive and involves no loss of profits to companies who hire illegals and more fantasy food for would be armchair assassins

It's like people who have mice in their house - you can either clean the crumbs up so they go away or buy a trap to smash the mouse's brains out - your answer to that denotes your political affiliation ... and your thought sophistication .. oh I forgot, thought sophistication is a BAD thing - it's for elitists

I never said they were the only ones...I just pointed out that they are part of the problem if not a major contributor to it.

Sleazy business types are motivated by greed. Liberals are just mentally unstable.

I can't argue that one.
