I don't care about those peoples jobs but I do care about the fact that this is a product air forces around the world will want to buy. We need more, not fewer, exports.

Does the US need 1200 or 1300 or whatever number of these? IDK.

Wrong. Air forces around the world don't want to buy it for the fact like most all our military equipment, it's a over priced hose job that is more than what most foreign governments need, and want to pay for. Even NATO country's are b*tching about having to buy our over priced technology. Do the cost factor on a Russian made SAM missile system vs our over priced, screw the US tax payer air craft.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Of course they will want it. Dictators all over the world will always need a way to protect their turf.

Back to reality now..other than one or two oil rich Arab country's, and some NATO country's...nobody wants to pay that price for air craft when most of the wars these days can be fought in the air with a WW2 P-51.

You peeps need to get a clue and think about this. Look at the price tag of our next generation fighters, and then look at the wars being fought today. Other than the USA/Oil company's confederation fighting major wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, there is no major wars going on other than some jungle warfare.

The US is living in a fantasy world with their over priced hose job technology that nobody wants to pay for. The US tax payers pay for it, but who else does ? Why should US tax payers get totally screwed up the ####### without lube just so some defense company's can take it to the bank while screwing us up the ####### even harder ? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know this sh*t. I mean we debate on here..but I'm thinking we all have an IQ above +10.

Something else to think about though. Right now we don't have a beef with Russia or China but they are still developing and selling advanced aircraft to whoever has the money to pay for them. While we may not have another conflict with them we will at some point have one with a country or group that is buying stuff from them. Do we really want to be outgunned by some 3rd world country?

as I am sure you know the Russian word for "weapon" is "vee-ep-ohn"

Yeah a P-51 could pretty much wipe out our enemies...come to think of it, the UAV's are nothing more than a P-51 on remote control.

We will push a button in Missouri and take out their aircraft before they get off the ground. We could do it in 1991, I am sure we still can. When was the last time our forces even had an air to air engagement? 1981? when we shot down the Libyan planes? 30 years ago? Helicopters and A-10s have been the workhorse aircraft along with the stealth fighters/attack planes

I just think if you even get into a "dogfight" in this day and age you have to be out of your mind. Why? For nostalgia?

We our being out gunned by them on the weapons market. We still hold the lions share but they are gaining steadily on us every year. And it isn't because of their technology, it's because of their prices..are way lower than ours. The world is still in a recession and governments are thinking more realistic these days than ever before...well not ours, but most.

Russia and China can't match us technology wise...but just like the AK 47, it works and it's cheap and it's what most governments can realistically afford atm.

We are still light years ahead of everyone else, but as far as mass producing something that's helping to break this country's back...
