There are safer units than Fukushima right? Such as PBRs?

The plants that are in trouble are 40 year old designs and were flawed from the beginning from what I understand. I even read that some GE engineers resigned because they didn't want to be associated with them. The plants built in the US have more redundant systems and better containment. From what I understand if the very same disaster happened to one of the "sister" plants here in America the outcome would be very different. It seems the plants in Japan were not up to snuff by our standards.
