What are everyone's experience with Advance Parole? My husband and I just got married on 2/25/11 and overnighted his AOS/ED/AP application last night and are curious as to when we should be able to expect his AP back??? We hear it is taking about 2 months right now so want to know how long people who have filed recently have waited to get theirs approved? We are worried because we have his best friends wedding on May 30 in Scotland and would be devastated if we missed it! Would it be a good idea to just try to expedite it? Are they likely to approve it?

05/25/08 - Met through friends

08/03/08 - Became an official couple!

03/14/11 - Mailed AOS/AP/EAD to Chicago (Overnight)

03/15/11 - Delivery Confirmation from USPS to Chicago Lockbox

03/19/11 - NOA Text recieved from USCIS

03/18/11 - Official NOA letter recieved in mail! The process is offically in motion :)

It's usually 2 months.

Our own came the day before or so the day we got the greencard (2 months)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

We had a trip planned around the 2 months mark and we had to change it... they wouldn't expedite either. Hopefully yours will go faster. Allow 6 business days after approval for it to be delivered too.

Also, since you are AOSing from a non-K visa, you should be posting in the AOS from work, student, and tourist visa forum. There is also a lively March I-130/I-485 concurrent filers progress thread going on, and I am sure they would love your company.

Good luck.

I wouldn't count on anything because they constantly make administrative mistakes that render the documents invalid. I received my AP 2 within 2 months but couldn't use it to travel to my best friend's wedding due to an error. Hopefully you will receive it in time but don't make travel plans until you do because if you leave the country your husband will have to stay in the UK until he can get a CR1 visa.

I filed my AOS/EAD & AP 10th Jan. My AOS & EAD have been approved but there is no sign of my AP as the USCIS site can't find the case number. Every case will be different. Some cases have been approved within 2months.

We first met online 2004, but things started to get serious in Dec 2007. Made my first visit to the USA in march 2008 for 2 weeks. Then returned again in Aug 2008 for 3 months.. Then i came back to the UK for 5 months to return back to the USA April 2009 for another 3months.
