saspk et al, thank you for sharing your views and experiences. I just want to say we filed some weeks ago and USCIS cashed the check. Got the notice from them too saying wait for biometrics appointment, etc. Hopefully no RFE at this point!

Good luck FLgal! If you need help ask at the forum. Lots of helpful folks here in VJ community.

Since this is the Removal of Conditions of 2yr conditional green cards forum and not for a visa, perhaps the value of the affidavits differ.

In the I-751 Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence instructions on evidence, this is what it says regarding affidavits:

Affidavits are helpful if you lack stronger "primary" evidence. We had to We felt we should send affidavits because we have no joint utilities and no lease or rental agreements. They are not required, but do have value if you have weaker evidence.

Absolutely. We sent in as many as we could due to some things missing like any kind of health insurance since we have none, and other things affected by not having a lot of money. It's better to send MORE than they need than less. I don't know why someone would suggest not to send something on the list. It certainly cannot hurt to cover all bases.

We submitted affidavits with our I-751. I too wonder what weight these do hold for the official who reads them, but they have to be of some value if they are listed as a form of possible evidence. I did limit myself as to who I had write and affidavit for us. I wanted them to be professional with the ability to utilize professional letterhead and someone due to their position, considered an upstanding member of the community. I had my pastor who was also the pastor of our wedding here in the states a few years back, and also a member of law enforcement to write letters for us. Again, not sure what value they have, but I tried to make these affidavits as "conflict-of-interest" free as can be with something like this.

I have read about people using family members and even the spouse to submit affidavits...these to me do seem to be pointless and a waste.

Cheers,

Well, we sent ours some weeks ago. No affidavits. We got our biometrics app too. So I guess this means no more RFE? Or is there a chance for it still?

An RFE is still possible. I don't think the application has been looked at yet even though you have received your biometrics letter. Hopefully all will be fine but until we get our approval notices we all hold our breath. unsure.gif
