Counts per minute? As in alpha radiation? I guess the counts need to be really ingested for them to be serious at those counts. I think I've heard cpms in the 100+ range for alpha and beta rads to be more 'contaminating' but what do I know.

if it's in CPM (counts per minute) you don't have a thing to worry about.

normal background is up to hundreds of CPM. it depends on your location on the planet (altitude, granite deposits etc), the size, type and efficiency of your detector.

San Francisco Bay Area Air Quality Control says they are constantly monitoring for everything, including radiation. If something was wrong, they would let us know. Meanwhile, there is a run on the stores for potassium iodide tablets in Santa Rosa (about 10 miles away).
