it depends on visa type.

what visa type will yer foreign spouse be applying for ?

Example -

packet 3 docs go through intake at NVC for IR-1/CR-1 visa type

packet 3 docs go through intake at a US Embassy for K-3/K-1 visa type.

a good percentage of the time the Packet 3 is not sent from Manila Embassy (i have yet to read about someone receiving a Packet 3 from there). You can download the version you need here: http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3224.html

Packet 4 will be the interview letter.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

From what I've read, packet 4 is the one that contains the instructions for the medical exam.

USCIS: CR-1 Visa @ Vermont Service Center (Approved in 140 days from NOA1)

03/07/11: I-130 package sent to Chicago Lockbox

03/14/11: NOA1 via text and email (03/21/11: in the mail); petition routed to VSC

07/27/11: NOA2 via text and email (07/30/11: received in the mail)

08/01/11: Case received at NVC

09/19/11: Case complete and forwarded to consulate

10/19/11: Interview (APPROVED!!!)

11/18/11: POE

12/12/11: 2- year Green Card arrives in the mail

Good to know.

So just to clarify, the "packet 3" (which is now called the Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants) contains the DS-230 form, I-864 form and instructions for collecting all the other civil documents needed for submission with the DS-230, correct?

AND on top of this, in your experience it also contains the medical exam instructions (which, as per the Singapore embassy information page on VJ, will be sent directly by the physician to the Singapore embassy)?

The US embassy singapore website isn't very helpful or informative, so I have started my own immigration visa flowchart that's specific to our case (right now spans two sheets of paper, each sheet is 31"x31"). It's been fun adding to it as my husband and I learn new things about the process or come up with new questions about future steps. It also gives us a little project to focus on instead of being miserable all the time. May have to start page 3 soon. :lol:

click the flag under yer name, that'll drop you to yer country portal.

Once there, click the embassy info page - most of what you need is there,

the rest of it is on the Embassy IV webpage for YOUR EMBASSY.

Slightly off-topic, but it says that a blank copy of the DS-230 part 2 will be sent with packet 4. Does this mean we should only send the DS-230 part 1 with the DS-230 packet to NVC? Just wondering because I've seen other people saying that the DS-230 should include part 1 signed and completed and part 2 completed but not signed.
